EldenRingUpscaler Beta Build 01

This is a mod that enables DLSS/FSR2/XeSS in Elden Ring v1.09.

I implemented Ultra Quality and Native mode for all three of them.

EDIT: This version currently suffers from flickering grass in motion and no HDR support due to having to run in borderless mode.

I've fixed the flickering grass but still working on supporting HDR since the game won't enable it in borderless I would need to either make it work in fullscreen mode or try to enable HDR in borderless mode.

INSTALLATION

  1. Launch the game and set it to use Borderless instead of Fullscreen.
  2. Extact everything in this zip to the game's root folder.
  3. Install Anti-Cheat Toggler from https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/90/
  4. Turn off EAC before launching the game
  5. Turn ON AA in the game settings, it's needed for me to hook into TAA rendering.
  6. Press HOME in the game to open the menu for upscalers.
  7. Then make sure EldenRingUpscalerUIComposite is checked in ReShade (Pic 1).
  8. In the second tab, check the the first two option under generic depth addon (Pic 2).
  9. Press Numpad * to toggle upscaler.
  10. You can change settings in-game, but mip lod bias would require a restart to take effect.

Thanks to huutaiii for helping with finding address for jitter and setting resolution!

The DLAA version will soon be released on nexusmods for free.

Hello, authentication not working to me

Jassim Baqer

Nope, just like any other Elden Ring mods, you must disable EAC and play offline. But I think there's a mod for you to play online without the official server? Seamless coop I think

PureDark

We wont be able to play online with this right?

For me the improvement from having hdr outweighs dlaa on my 4090 by factor of 5. However I would also love to use dlaa or dlss to help cope with this demanding raytracing. Just not at the cost of hdr.

Mat wilson

I second this, we are OLED snobs, lol

Naythan Jones

https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/2794 this will get real HDR in windowed mode, but the dxgi.dll will override the mod. maybe someway our leader pure dark can combine them

Naythan Jones

HDR will not turn on in windowed mode without this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/2794 but this has a dxgi.dll and so does your mod, unfortunately cannot use both. The native HDR looks great on my OLED, kinda a shame to turn it off.

Fixed it, it's because of motion blur, but it can't be easily fixed by disabling motion blur since motion vectors won't be rendered if it's turned off. Just wait for an update.

PureDark

I am aware of the grainy grass when moving camera, still working on fixing it, maybe just need to apply motion blur on them or just disable jittering when camera is moving. I might need more people to test and more feedback to improve it, currently I've only made it at least working, but far from polished. So it might be best for you to join the discord server and discuss more about it.

PureDark

I wanted to give a bit of critical feedback. Obviously I'm a fan of your work, and will continue to be. However there's definately some issues with the beta. - Major flickering on grass when rotating the camera in all DLSS modes, including native dlss mode (which i presume is DLAA) - "balanced" dlss mode goes completely crazy, lots of whole screen shimmering - the original might have more visual instability on fine edges like tree branches, however it looks a lot more detailed than even DLAA, more than i can reproduce with sharpening, dlss looks very downgraded, more than most dlss games ive seen. Grass in particular has a very hard time with image stability, with the ssao and grass shader both creating a lot of visual noise. And there seems to be an issue with the games ssao. - I turned off dlss, and enabled nvidia image scaling, which is usually dramatically inferior to dlss in most games. However even running at 2560x1440 (which is the same as dlss quality @ 4k) the image stability was a lot better than dlss. So it's the dlss itself that's causing the massive flickering in foliage and grass. - Elden ring has a ridiculous amount of fine detail, so i imagine even a perfectly implemented dlss would have a hard time. I hope that you can find a way to add stability to that detail in a later build. If that's possible.

For me on my c9 oled, the ingame HDR looks very close to a thousand times better than auto hdr (which i also use, but they just don't compare)

Mat wilson

Windows auto hdr is just a brightening of existing content using tonemapping. It's not a full contrast range like integrated hdr. I find on a good OLED tv that the game's HDR is far superior to windows auto HDR. To the point of them not being comparable. The ingame HDR has way more contrast. On a traditional LCD monitor that's not really capable of hdr, then it may not look as good. But i can't really go back to non HDR.

Mat wilson

Actually the win11 auto-hdr is working pretty good for me and with upscaler enabled

PureDark

The in-game HDR setting makes the game look washed out for me, I don't know why so I never turn it on. How did you get it working properly though?

PureDark

What happen if you just turn on windows HDR nad Auto-HDR?

PureDark

this mod seems to deal with this https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/2794 however it's also using dxgi. Is it possible to incorporate this somehow?

Mat wilson

I feel hdr is really needed in this game, fullscreen is needed for HDR, is there any way we can get this to work fullscreen?

Mat wilson

Borderless Fullscreen Disables HDR, is there anyway to keep HDR and use the mod, sir?

Naythan Jones

Tried it out and it's awesome! thanks so much for all the hard work to get this working
