SkyrimUpscaler ENB Test Build 06
Added 2023-01-01 16:36:35 +0000 UTCFixed FSR2 ghosting due to incorrect FOV, now you can set FOV in the ini, note that the setting doesn't change your FOV, but rather it should match your in-game FOV.
Updated FSR2 dlls to FSR 2.2
Compatibility with Enderal SE
INSTALLATION
- Install as any other SKSE plugin, using MO2 or Vortex would be the best way.
- Turn off TAA and DOF, anything that will blur the input for upscalers must be turned off.
- Turn off ENB Edge AA and DOF (If you play at high enough resolution you can still try to use ENB's DOF, but if you can't stand the jittery then turn it off).
- Press END in the game to open the menu for upscalers.
- (Optional) Install Reshade for DOF and other effects, since it applies its effects after the upscaling. I recommand the CinematicDOF with aperture set to 12-15, and focal length around 90, and near plane max blur 0.2.
- (Optional) Use SSE ReShade Helper to make DOF not affect UI.
- Note you can't change upscaler and quality levels at runtime, you'll need to change it in the ini and restart the game.
IMPORTANT: Since I no longer include a SSEDisplayTweaks.ini, you need to open your own SSEDisplayTweaks.ini and set Fullscreen = false and BorderlessUpscale = false. Remember to remove the # before them or they won't take effect.
If you are not using SSE Display Tweaks, set bFull Screen = 0 in SkyrimPrefs.ini
There are two known conflics, one is detection meter, you can solve it by updating DM to v17.
The other one is Improved Camera, you can solve the conflic by editing its ini, set its menu mode to 0.
Finally, if you are using ReShade, use 5.5.1 instead of the newest.
Comments
Try it on a new MO2 profile and activate only Address Library and Upscaler, see if it works on this vanilla setup.

2023-01-25 12:21:01 +0000 UTCYou didn't follow this guide which is the one you should follow. What you described is the typical symtom of running the game in fullscreen mode. Just make sure you are in borderless.

My suspicion is that it's because I downgraded my game to 1.6.353, but I just wanted to make sure before I go fixing something that ain't broke.

2023-01-24 07:02:54 +0000 UTCThe first thing to try is creating a new MO2 profile and enable only address lib and this mod. To know if it's working on vanilla is important to know what could be casuing the crash.

2023-01-22 22:58:52 +0000 UTCFrom your mod list I can tell that they are all CPU heavy, so lowering the render resolution won't help in this case. But if you still want to render at lower resolution, instead of changing your game's resolution, you should only change the quality level in this mod's ini.
PureDark
2023-01-22 16:48:44 +0000 UTCWell I don't know why it would crash your game with 1.0 ResolutionScale, but this mod was intended to be used with you setting the resolution to your monitor resolution.

2023-01-22 16:47:08 +0000 UTCI have some questions and am looking for some advice. I run Skyrim on a 1440p 144hz monitor and currently have a Ryzen 5700x, 32gb ram and a RTX 2060 S. I'm trying to squeeze as much frames as possible while running DynDoLOD with grass and mods that add more objects to the game and Open Cities. I'm currently testing in White Run which can be demanding with my mods loaded. I average ~40 fps with dips into the low 30's with DLSS activated. Would I get more benifit running at 1080p? If so how do I do it with DLSS? I've attempted but can't figure out how to get the image to fill the monitor like full screen.
Thomas Murphy
2023-01-22 08:03:24 +0000 UTCTo those who want to play 'fullscreen,' The best solution I figured out was to use 'SSE Display Tweaks' to set your Resolution to your monitor resolution. (In my case 2560x1080) and set ResolutionScale to 0.98. For me, setting it to 0.99 or 1.00 instantly crashes my game. This will make the game fill up your whole monitor, you can hide your taskbar in the windows settings and you should essentially have a fullscreen game.

2023-01-22 01:50:03 +0000 UTCThis mod is life-changing! I went from 25-30 FPS on a very heavily modded game to around 49-60 FPS and I can't see a noticeable difference in quality. However, is there any way to make the game close to fullscreen? Atm I am playing in a window that only uses half of my monitor. Thanks!

Just noticing one minor issue - the spell preview within the Spell/Magic Menu (I'm using SkyUI) is getting cut off/split with correct FX on one side and broken FX on the other side. Seems to happen at the border of the MotionScale range (I'm playing on 4k resolution) and it will move depending on the mQualityLevel set (currently at 2 which looks like 1440p).

2023-01-20 05:03:02 +0000 UTCThank you for this great work, PureDark! For those who see no/little fps improvement, check if your GPU usage is maxed out (e.g. use MSI Afterburner). I don't think CPU could be the bottleneck for this game, with a decent mondern PC. In some scenarios, my GPU usage is <80% (I don't know if it reached RAM limit, or game engine limit), which could be caused by tree/grass modes, smp outfits, heavy script, etc. Try to change to another location, change the outfit, disable suspicious mods, etc.

2023-01-11 21:08:34 +0000 UTCUltra performance renders 1/9 of the original pixels, it's way too low and is only meant for 8K resolution. If you are not using 8K you shouldn't ever touch ultra performance.
PureDark
2023-01-11 20:16:58 +0000 UTCI don't know exactly what I did wrong, but after updating the amd driver and trying ultraperformance most of the image has a low quality resolution. Some parts like text or parts of the body work well but objects like fire look low resolution. I uninstalled the driver and nothing changed, I will try now if reinstalling the upscaler and choosing other quality option sosolves the issue. It was working perfectly until I did those 2 things, I wont even mention an ivy plant texture I also installed because that wouldn't make any sense. Edit: It didn't work unfortunately, should I share the log? I'll see if it is an taa dof issue that got deconfugurated when I installed the driver. I really don't know what changed for this to happen.

2023-01-10 21:47:41 +0000 UTCThanks a lot for this! I hope you keep working on updates for it, since from what I heard Boris is not interested on doing it. This has probably become one of the most essential mods for the game, which is why I will tell you again that you should be selling it a lot more, this enb version at least, in my opinion it is a very big wasted opportunity. I just tried it and for some reason after installing fsr2 version I can't tweak the quality level ingame, what do I need to do to fix that? I have 60 fps inside but 30 outside, so I really need to change the quality level.
Luca Barbieri Sosa
2023-01-10 21:06:20 +0000 UTCIt's very hard to tell, best way to test is to try extreme cases, like using the NAT ENB III Raytracing preset. Once it can halve your FPS when enabling ENB, you can test the gain more noticeablely.

2023-01-09 23:04:38 +0000 UTCmod conflicts are always hard to pin-point, you just have to find all the SKSE plugins and disable them one by one. Or maybe it's reshade or enb or something else in the game root.

2023-01-05 08:36:57 +0000 UTCIf you are at a low framerate already with a 3070, that would probably mean you were getting CPU limited before this mod anyway. You can check this by using the heaviest ENB and play the game at 4K. Then compare using this mod vs not using it.
PureDark
2023-01-05 02:36:31 +0000 UTCI really should've written it in the instructions. You can't change most settings in-game with the ENB Test Build, cuz it's implemented using a very different method and doesn't allow for changing render resolution at runtime. If you want to change the settings, you should change it in SkyrimUpscaler.ini then restart the game.

2023-01-05 02:34:11 +0000 UTCThere are no performance changes for me on any quality setting. I can view the in-game menu just fine. Installed via MO2, followed steps 1 thru 4 above, skipping optional steps. I altered SkyrimUpscaler.ini to use "mUpscaleTyle = 0" for DLSS with my GeForce RTX 3070, and "mQualityLevel = 2". The "#" before relevant settings in SSEDisplayTweaks.ini has been removed, and no file is overriding the ini in MO2. Updating Detection Meter to v17 allowed the game to load, but had no affect on making the Upscaler mod function. Disabling Detection Meter entirely did not help. I do not have Improved Camera installed.
