Oh definitely, my rule of thumb has been that the variance in diet between classically herbivorous/omnivorous/carnivorous animals is more nutrient-based than anything, both because it makes the most sense that way from a biological perspective (in nature, deer will eat eggs if they can get em... and grown birds for that matter) and also because it's more fun if a rabbit can eat sushi.

Hey question...considering Pen's diet, would he even KNOW how to cook with eggs?

OH COOL dang, is there anything beans CAN'T do??

Since we know that both of them can eat beans, I suppose black bean brownies are a good compromise (I know a great recipe, btw)

The scale between animal sizes is truncated quite a bit because I can't,,,,,,,,,,, do the "mice are 6 inches tall and still have to participate in society" thing,,,,,,,,,,,,, I just can't do it
So most chicken-adjacent birds would be probably a little over half Pen's height? 3-3.5 feet? I was thinking of it like, ok picture a human newborn... now picture half that size... still way too big to fit into a chicken egg... they gotta be at least softball-sized eggs surely

Definitely! Since laying eggs regardless of whether or not they're fertilized is a byproduct of being a bird, and protein is a high value nutrient for a lot of animals, it's probably something a lot of folks do as a side hustle -- something you'd expect to see at a farmer's market and other places homegrown produce might show up (lol maybe it's a category at the state fair), there could be services you can sign up for where you have eggs regularly picked up from your address and you receive payment depending on the volume. I could also see them being regularly donated to food banks and church pantries and the like.
Birds also sometimes do eat their own eggs so I bet that's a hotly debated topic in bird culture. "Is eating your eggs self cannibalism?" etc etc. but I digress :P

Hey, at least it isn't in a spray can. Still, the scare quotes are definitely scary, given some of the ... uhm, *non-dairy* substances that have been called "cheese", LOL!

"... Given the scale of animals, chicken eggs would be impractically large for most folks to keep whole in the fridge ..."
Wait a minute ... have we been looking all this time at an entire civilization that's just a scale model of our own--??
Just how big IS a chicken in this world? Have I inadvertently missed one among the cast of background characters looking roughly the same size as most normal folk in this universe?

Here's hoping poor Pen doesn't heave a second time trying to make Indy's breakfast.
