What's with the sugar bowl? Bad stuff for most critters. Granny must be some kind of prey species or omnivore; I don't think preds can even taste sugar.

Indy's embarrassed to have them but also he has yet to remember to buy new salt and pepper shakers so... well... they're functional... :(((

It's the cheese tax.
(Now I need art of Indy eagerly lapping up shredded cheese, sprinkled by an amused looking Pen)

If that stove is as old as it looks there should be a box of wooden matches somewhere, and some small container for the used ones. The one my granny had lacked a pilot light, so you had to strike a match before you turned the burner on.

OMFG, a three-piece chrome dinette set ... I grew up hearing radio ads for those at $19.95 ... my granny had a five-piece set ($29.95), but I can tell you the chair cushions were nowhere near that thick. Very sad; a lot of people sold off their very solid old wooden heirloom furniture for that cheesy junk.
Another thing I remember from granny's kitchen was the foot-tall aluminum percolator-style coffee pot. Her kitchen was *huge*, the second-largest room in the house, and all the adults hung out in there to gossip and drink coffee (or an occasional beer) and smoke cigarettes.
Something I didn't know for a very long time: the tiny upstairs bedroom had an honest-to-god feather bed in it, and I got to sleep in it once ... like floating in a cloud.
