CHIHAYAFURU: Episode 23 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*BUILDING BACK UP HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

I was expecting Chihaya to be moping after her loss last episode, but there is no time for that as time is marching on and matches are still to be had!

This episode was sooooo emotionally charged, but Taichi...Taichi, my dude. You still have a long way to go, but I'm rooting for your hopelessly in love self! Now, just hope Arata doesn't catch up to you!

CHIHAYAFURU: Episode 23 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

This show has yet to disappoint! I’m so glad we get to see Arata again! Yay! I definitely think Taichi’s actions could be interpreted in many ways; I personally think he was being selfish in the moment, from someone who HAS selfishly done the exact same thing he has done with a crush. I don’t think he’s MEANING to be selfish, but hindsight is very 20/20. And these are just my opinions! 😀 Who knows what the intent is - I am curious to see where his character goes from here. I love how Dr. Harada is part of this series and continues to complicate the reasonings with Karuta and all that fun stuff! I love seeing him active in this series as a mentor but also someone actively competing at the same time. I agree with your notes on him and Chihaya! This love triangle is INSANE and this mangaka is cruel for putting us all through the wringer with them! I see the vision for all three possibilities for them as couples…just let them be a throuple, mangaka, and we can get along just fine! I’m SO excited to see what happens these last few episodes and I can’t wait to see where it goes! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words!

Look at that, and episode with Arata, that's so much fun! Even if it's not for a very long scene, I'm really enjoying finally being able to see more of Arata. We still don't know much of his journey, granted, but we're finally seeing pieces of it and that's super nice. For me, that initial scene with Taichi sending everyone away to watch Dr. Harada play, and only him staying with Chihaya didn't read as selfish; I mean, Taichi is deffinitely selfish when it comes to Chihaya, 100%, as we see later on with his reaction to that dude asking her out, but to me, in this scene, it read a little more like him wanting to give Chihaya privacy and room to be upset without an audience. I might be wrong, his actions can certainly be interpreted many ways, and I'm not ruling out that he might have been also acting out of selfishness then, but it also seem like a reasonable request for him to make. I do like that Tsutomu sort of debunks Taichi's claims, even in that case, when he claims at the end of the episode that he and Chihaya missing the rest of the Karuta club means that they are some kind of family; thus effectively saying that it would have been alright for them to see Chihaya being vulnerable because they are family, too, even if they haven't known her as long as Taichi has. In any case, I do agree that Taichi cannot catch a break; the mangaka is entirely too cruel to him, and I'm here to see him struggle and rise above it in the end, at least, that's what I hope will happen xD You know, it's interesting that you note that Dr. Harada won against Sudou not for Chihaya's sake, but for his own, and we have the sort of comparison with Chihaya thinking that she lost because she got too drawn into herself and forgot that she wasn't playing alone. I think Chihaya's playing is fueled by vastly different things than Dr. Harada's, yes, but I also think that Chihaya needs to reach a balance in her playing that she hasn't managed just yet, of playing for herself, confident in her own abilities, and being aware of everyone else and that she doesn't need to carry the burden alone. Oh, gosh, yeah, I'm not sure that Chihaya wants to be the Queen for any other reason more than because that's the dream Arata put in her head as a child, at least, for now. I think she loves Karuta because, since the beginning, it has given her a comunity, friends, and the recognition and focus that she was lacking from her home life, and being Queen just means that she gets to play to the highest level, and have the most fun (again, here I am compairing her to Luffy in some sense) but not because the tittle holds a particulatly special place in her ambitions; I think that if someone told her that she can never be Queen but she gets to play with all her friends, including Arata, forever she would be super happy regardless. As big of a Taichi/Chihaya shipper as I am, I do think that Chihaya is developing/realizing she has a crush on Arata; at least, if that call is any proof. Which is nice, as it would mean Chihaya is becoming more selfaware and that's good, and I think that could be fun; and, above all, it can still develop into the trouple of my dreams xD Considering we only have a handful of episodes left in the seasson I have NO clue where we're going to leave off; I mean, what else can we get this season? And that's a very fun mindset to be in for the next episode.
