*UNBELIEVABLE HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

If you had told me that the events of this episode were happening NOW, I would never have believed you!

I can't say much more than I am STUNNED, GAGGED, GOOPED, and this show's bold choice has really left me simultaneously speechless, and ready to talk so much about it...also, I don't know if I can hold back from watching more with this show - I'm joining the cult!

ORB: On the Movements of the Earth! Episode 3 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

I think only with anime does joining a “cult” feel appropriate and right! Haha!! But thank you for the comment and all the kind words! And yeah, I HAD to skip the ED to talk about the episode! THE ORB EFFECT, indeed! Rafal’s fate blew me away! The author really went all in and Rafal as the martyr just makes me admire and love him all the more, even though at the time, I was DEVASTATED and in denial, watching! YOU’RE POLISH?! I did not realize that! Or it had slipped my mind - but that’s so cool! OH. MY. GOD. I may have to try and say that name in a future intro but that one last name is mortifying. *shudders* I can imagine how that note felt seeing it on screen with Ziemia on it, though! Potocki aka Ringo Star is so interesting! Flawed but you GET IT. It’s so interesting to see him justify his actions, as cruel to us the audience as they are…and do so almost…gently? It’s wild. It also amplifies Rafal’s choice, when you realize that it will cause him to undergo what a grown adult adamantly was avoiding. And then you think of Hubert…*sigh* this series is great! I hate that Rafal and Hubert are gone. :( But it’s set up so much with the story that I cannot wait to see unfold and makes them all the more iconic in this! And that translation! Ahhhh, this series is GREAT and I can’t wait to see where we go from here! Thank you again, co-cult leader! 😀

How exciting!! I’m so glad that you’re getting into the manga! 😀 I am still STUNNED that he’s dead. Just…gone too soon! I fell for him just for him to disappear…ugh…like a star! Rafal is just so heroic in taking a stance and not being silenced – a martyr for sure! HAHAHA, my brain went blank but Nowak reminds me so much of Walz’s character in this so far! Language and how it can take so many “forms” is wild - definitely eye-opening; thank you for sharing that about your heritage! If ONE good thing has come from the Internet, it’s the connectivity and ability to locate at least some resources that otherwise would never make it to the hands of those that may need it or are searching (even if not realizing at the time). I wish I knew a little more of my family’s heritage aside from us being “Euro mutts” haha, but maybe that’s a journey to start on! Your husband knowing Mandarin and Spanish is impressive, though! Yessss, most people are weak, which is why Rafal’s heroism and courage was so moving in this episode! I wanted him to take the “easier” way out because I love his character, but now, of course, I love it even more! He really was wise beyond his years. The entire part was so beautiful to watch and the TENSION - T.E.N.S.I.O.N. - between Nowak and Rafal - you just know he was moved and shook in that moment! I do remember the note about poppy seeds influencing test results! Yes! I really hated that they burned Rafal’s body – he was already dead, but you couldn’t give him a proper burial? Despicable, indeed. I’M still processing it even a week or so after watching it, myself! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words - glad to join this cult, if anything! And thank you for the links! 😀It’s good to know there’s more goodness yet to come! ;)

✨WELCOME TO THE CULT!!!✨ Great reaction and discussion as always!! Also. Is this the first time ever that i saw you skip the ending at the end of reaction??? Truly the Orb effect!! XD Maaaan, was Rafał's fate was such a surprise!! I was not expecting it at all and i am truly impressed by the massive balls this author has to pull something like that 3 episodes in. Truly an epic conclusion to Rafał's path! Fun fact!! All the surnames of the characters in this series are legit polish surnames! Their pronunciation is a little wonky but mostly correct, which is very impressive to me as a polish person! And at least they didn't try to include the names like "Krzekobrzegoszczyński" (which is a real polish surname, by the way XD) in the series and completely butcher them XD And while talking about names! The way they spell Rafal's name in subtitles is wrong (probably bc its a letter that is almost only in polish alphabet so they didn't bother with typing it every time XD)! The correct way to spell it is Rafał with the special letter "ł/Ł" in it, which is pronounced the same way as in "w" in "wait". I also really appreciate that they are writing words in polish too! I screamed so loud when i saw the "Ziemia" that Rafał wrote!! Potocki is such a fascinating character to me. Because he, in his very flawed but very understandable for those times comprehension of the world, in some way is trying to save Rafał from what he sees as fate worse than death - non existence of the soul. And for someone as deeply religious as Potocki seems to be, thats something he very deeply believes in. Enough for him to abandon all his passions and renounce his own curiosity and will AND totally change his lifestyle, because the threat of nothingness is something he finds THAT scary. And i cannot even blame him for that. It takes a very brave and a very special person to try doing something that goes against societal norms. Even braver one to do so even knowing that nothing but very brutal death awaits you at the end of your path. Hubert was this sort of man. Potocki was not. And he was not willing to risk that sort of fate for a boy he adopted as his own son. Because the first time Potocki renounced his believes, he lived what he sees as a good, honest life for many years after. And for sure there was this little voice in his head, going: "Wouldn't it be good for Rafał too? To renounce it early on and live a long life without this constant threat?". So he snitched on him and (in his own flawed, very human way) tried to save both himself and Rafał from the fate worse than death. Which backfired spectacularly and made Rafał choose death rather than living a lie. And it made Potocki lose Rafał so much sooner than if he said nothing, to the very same fate he tried rescuing him from. Truly, road to hell is paved in good intentions, eh? And speaking of Rafał. This was truly such a beautiful and tragic end to his character. In the end, he took the words of Hubert to the heart. "I do not want to live in a world that's not beautiful". He choose his own path and all the consequences that came from it. He choose to stick to his own principles over his own life. Even better, he decided to SACRIFICE his own life to aid the cause he will not be there to witness the resolution of. In the end, he chose right over easy and thats so awe aspiring. Also fun fact that i, with my limited knowledge of japanese find both funny and fascinating. The world Rafał used to describe what people like Nowak fear was "Chisei", which cam mean "truth" but also "intelligence/wisdom". And something that is just funny coincidence. Earth can be translated as "Chi". So there is "earth" in "truth/intelligence".

I have read to this point! I stoped and now I’m caught up to these reactions. I really fell in love with Rafal, then they killed off my baby! 😭 I’m with you about discovering all these characters and I will binge the heck out of both the manga and the episodes! Yes, I cried this episode. This series is fast earning its spot in my top ten. The scope of the story telling over years apparently may be quite the journey to the truth of the world! With all the Greek influence on young Rafal, taking the “hemlock”, I can see that. He stood his ground, defied the church and stayed true to himself. Heroic! Yeah, Ringo folded like a cheap suit. (Inglorious Bastards is great! I was screaming Waltz at the tv….) Man Nowak is just a monster! He is very good at his job! Language: I’m part indigenous American, Yaqui to be exact. One thing my dad did that separated us children from our heritage was by downplaying that culture. My grandfather was fully indigenous. I do not think my dad could relate to his father at all. I absolutely know almost nothing about the Yaqui culture. I knew about the deer dance though… One day, I found some YouTube videos that taught just a few words in Yaqui and it floored me! There are lots of videos now. Did I learn it? No, but knowing that some people speak it is grounding for me somehow. Yes, language is powerful! My father and mother both spoke Spanish, my dad fluently. They didn’t teach us children. I’ve accepted the hole in my identity. It’s who I am and I can’t change that now. It’s a weird feeling because Husband speaks both Mandarin and Spanish! He does all the talking in the grocery stores. Your explanation on resurrection is how I understand it as well. I really cannot blame Ringo for his cowardice. I think most people would try to preserve their own lives under torture. Most people are weak. Poppy seeds have been blamed for positive drug tests before. If you are scheduled for that sort of thing, poppy seed bagels or everything bagels may want to be avoided. Can eating poppy seeds affect drug test results? An addiction and pain medicine specialist explains - UF Health Heroin is harvested from poppies. For a 12 yr old Rafal is mature beyond his years. How he reasoned out his truth, I can’t even put to words how beautiful it was. It’s truly inspirational. I absolutely agree with your rant. Well, sheeple is a thing! The tension between Rafal and Norwak! I totally was floored by this whole section! Norwak was outplayed by a child. And they burned his dead corpse anyway! Despicable! Really I can’t add anything more insightful to these ramblings. I think this caught me off guard and I still haven’t really processed it! Great analysis as always and I agree with your take on this fantastic episode! I am joining that cult with you! Hahaha! Edit: I have to share because it’s funny? Also, Byzantine Empire. https://youtu.be/QRRQQVK6nV8?si=PHN-3z3NsecYPVCx Edit8/29/25 I’m on book 5…. Sweet Jesus Mother Mary and Joseph! … sheesh! 😬 This is a great manga!
