*TRUTHFUL HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Cultivators are dying, cats are out of the bag, and new characters and their pasts are being revealed - it's all a huge set up to start the final act of this story and my jaw was on the floor this episode! Can we give Zhou Zishu, Wen KeXing, ChengLing, Cao WeiNing, and Gu Xiang all the hugs, now, though?!

WORD OF HONOR: Episode 29 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

WKX is so doting and ZZS has slowly started taking advantage of having him wrapped around his finger! 😛At least WKX came full circle with accepting Han Ying and even trying to save him at the end compared to when they first met. I love that Gong Jun and his child actor are so compatible in this series! Chengling is ALWAYS ready to throw hands but I agree; it’s great to see the Dragonpool Cabinet brought back! Chengling was really pulling his weight in this episode and I felt so sorry for him having all this trauma but not having time to focus on the mess happening here! ZZS was so done in this episode once he’s been taken. I hate that he has to watch the four seasons burn
booo! I do love the Window of Heaven design as well, though! Master Fan is such a real one! I love how GX took that bold step to say the truth out loud when she’s been avoiding it for so long. It’s so sad seeing her and CWN crumbling at the end of this
ugh
I am certain that CWN won’t go back on his word to WKX, but we’ll have to wait and see! The dog trauma was anxiety-inducing but then we find out it’s Zhao Jing! The casting of young ZJ is INCREDIBLE! Yesssss, so much care to match the OG one! But yes, WKX’s mother was so fierce; I loved her in contrast to his dad in all this! We know where WKX gets it! I’m so happy we’re getting to meet the Shaman and Lord Seventh! And what a scene for them to walk in on! *nervous sweat* Thank you for the comment and kind words!

I love how Wen Kexing’s care for Zhou Zi Shu really shines here—it comes through so clearly in how desperately he tries to save Han Ying, even to the point of being willing to risk his own life. And yeah, your call about Han Ying was spot on—once Cheng Ling hit him with the whole “you can also be a disciple and live here” line, it was basically the death flag waving. Still, I liked how those words gave Han Ying some peace, like he got a fleeting glimpse of the life he always wanted. Sad, but also kind of comforting. I love that they didn’t just drop the Longyuan Cabinet plotline but actually tied it back in here with the flying bird and the weapons used by Four Season Manor —such a nice touch of consistency that makes everything feel connected. And then there’s Cheng Ling, my guy! Always ready to throw hands, haha. I love how he just squares up to the Window of Heaven like, “Yeah, I’m fighting you—so what?” And Zhou Zi Shu with the proud dad vibes was perfect. Also, can we talk about casting for a sec? In that scene where Wen Kexing is in denial about Han Ying’s death (around 7:48), the way he looks up at Zhou Zi Shu with worry is so reminiscent of the child actor who played young Wen Kexing—it felt like such a seamless emotional echo. And then there’s poor Cheng Ling—his trauma from losing his family comes flooding back the moment he realizes Zhou Zi Shu is about to leave with the Window of Heaven. You can really see how much it scares him. Zhou Zi Shu, of course, is trying so hard to keep a calm face and reassure him, even though the situation is crushing. And when Cheng Ling desperately tries to wake Wen Kexing
ugh, absolutely heartbreaking. I love how Peng Ju struts around acting like he’s all that, but the second Zhou Zi Shu casually strolls toward him, he immediately backpedals and orders his men to surround him—like even he knows he’s no match for Zi Shu. And the way Zi Shu keeps rolling his eyes whenever Peng Ju opens his mouth? Comedy gold. He’s so utterly done with that man. Also, can we give some credit to the Window of Heaven design? Their clothes and hats are incredible—they look properly menacing and give such a strong presence to the group. Gotta love a supportive master! Fan Huaikong shines here—so protective of Gu Xiang, saying he couldn’t watch her die even if she were just a random girl in the hills. Then he gives medicine to the disciples first—what a man! I loved that moment when Gu Xiang is the one who says, “Chief of Ghost Valley, Wen Kexing.” It really felt like a turning point, almost like she was showing her truth for the first time. Instead of staying quiet and letting Fan Huaikong repeat himself, she takes the step to voice it clearly—it’s such a bold move for her, and it landed perfectly. NOT THE DOG AGAAAAIN! Please
my heart cannot handle more dog-throwing trauma😭 And the fact that it was Zhao Jing—I completely forgot, so I was just as shocked as you, haha. Also, can we talk about the casting for another sec? It’s phenomenal. Not just for the leads, but even the side characters and the younger versions. Zhao Jing’s younger self absolutely nailed it—the same mannerisms, the same little smug quirks. I love when a show puts that much care into matching personalities across timelines. And Wen Kexing’s parents? Obsessed. His mom is incredible—sharp, fierce, and so sassy. Meanwhile his dad is all calm, gentle, collected vibes. But his mother just casually poisoning Zhao Jing’s tea like, “Eh, he probably deserves it” had me cackling! That poison was no joke either, so she clearly either suspected he was rotten to the core for a while, or
she just really wanted to test her poison stash. Either way, queen behavior. And honestly, Wen Kexing 100% got his sass from her—you can see the resemblance, haha! I love how the Shaman and Lord Seventh are standing there all somber and serious
and then they walk straight into absolute chaos: Wen Kexing going full feral mode while poor Cheng Ling is clinging to him like, “please sir, this is a Wendy’s.” The tonal whiplash is chef’s kiss. And the Shaman? He does not have time for this nonsense. Just hits Wen Kexing with the spiritual equivalent of, “Nope. Bedtime. Lights out.” Zero hesitation, zero patience. Iconic. Ouf
seeing Gu Xiang so serious and almost lifeless is so sad. The world she’d carefully built with Cao Weining is crumbling right in front of her, and his own stoic, serious demeanor only makes it worse
ugh, I hate it, but I guess it was inevitable. And yet, Gu Xiang’s resolve to fight to the death alongside them really shows her dedication to Cao Weining—I just hope he truly sees and understands it.
