I drew The Year of the Blue Snake a while ago for New Year.

I wanted to draw more snakes with a completely different vibe.

When I drew the blue snake, I intended to create a dreamy and mysterious atmosphere. This time, I emphasized a more cute for the snake I drew. I wanted to express some soft feelings I get when I look at snakes. I haven't had a chance to touch a snake, but I've heard that they're incredibly soft... I imagined that kind of softness.

I've seen a lot of cute pictures of ball pythons over the years. They're one of the most popular pet reptiles so they're often featured in the media. They have a very gentle personality and when they're scared, they curled up, it’s how they get their name.

Hmm... I hope the snake in my drawing isn't stressed, so I looked into this pose's meaning a bit more, and it seems that when the snake is scared, it curls up into a ball so that its head and tail are barely visible. The tighter they are when they're stressed, the looser they are when they're comfortable. But some snakes do this curled-up pose even when they're comfortable. I heard there are individual differences. So the snakes in the picture are just shy.. 😉

In the very last step, I changed the background color. The sand color background looks comfortable because the snake and the background color are similar, but I think the snake is not visible well. I like the changed version because it looks a little more lively when I change it to green.

The dark background makes the snake stand out a lot, but since the intention of this picture is 'the soft and warm feeling of the snake', I thought a bright color would be more suitable as a representative image. I made two versions for those of you who use dark mode as a wallpaper.

Ball pythons have a really diverse and beautiful pattern of morphs. Of all the animals I've drawn so far, I think ball pythons have the most types of morphs. Choosing what to draw is a real pleasure 😙

Each snake's pattern is unique, like a human fingerprint 💕

I also want to draw corn snakes and milk snakes, but I think that will be later someday, in the future.

As a next work, I plan to finish the icon pack for Twinkle bugs and make some new stickers or GIF for app. Thank you!

Haha I watched a lot of pictures and videos while drawing pythons and it was amazing how they start out really small but grow bigger over the years! Hognose snakes are really cute snakes. I want to draw them again later. I love their faces so much 🥹 I agree that normal morphs are underrated. I always love their original forms in nature!

These are all so cute!!! I love love LOVE ball pythons, they are so sweet. They get a bit too big for my wife, so I will stick with my hognose snakes. The normal morph is under-rated and def my favorite. I love the albino one you drew, and how the axanthic has little hearts!! oo the Piebald does too. The colors are so beautiful, especially with the green background it really makes it pop and look cozy.

While I was researching/drawing, I read about their texture and feel from the reptile community. I heard that when they grow up, they have a good-feeling weight, and when you touch them, can feel the softness and various textures of muscles and organs. And the cool touch! I can only imagine it, but it's so nice 😭 🔥

Hehehe, I'm so glad that someone who has ball python liked this picture. Thank you!

The most surprising thing about ball pythons is how grippy they are. They're very muscular snakes when well fed and that comes through in how they feel more than the usual softness of snakes.

I have a pet ball python, so I’m really excited to see these! Love your art 😊❤️

Thank you soooo much!

Oh, that makes sense. Garden eels and corn snake have a similar feel to each other 💕
