That’s an interesting paradox, actually. There is knowledge that each of us has and we likely consider it “common knowledge” that truly is not. I’m a software developer, and I have always made a conscious effort to not put too much importance on learning all the technical jargon and what ALL the acronyms are, except for VERY important ones. I can always Google things, but if I add them to my lexicon I will use them in daily life, and feel like I’m talking over people. It has served me well, especially in meetings with management, marketing and other creative people!
