Walter did have the Heisenberg theme! It played whenever he consciously put his hat on to switch to his other personality.

2025-03-05 21:42:08 +0000 UTCOh, last thing.. Tomorrow evening my dad, bro-in-law and I are going to see "A Night With Barry Corbin". He played the crotchety old guy and he was in tons of TV and movies, most notably he was "Bud" (John Travolta's) uncle in Urban Cowboy, We watched him in several seasons of a TV show set in Alaska called Northern Exposure, he's been in 1 or 2 episodes of 800 different TV series and a few movies, He was also in an episode of Yellowstone at the Four Sixes Ranch and obviously now in the Walterverse or McGillverse or whatever we call this. Should be interesting, he's one of those folksy old guys that always has a story, I think it's 2 hours of just listening to him spin a yarn.

2025-03-05 21:05:25 +0000 UTCoh crap, I was watching through this one a second time because I forgot if I had finished it, and when Mike is obsessing over replacing the wood in the window sill it reminded me of Walter ripping things apart in the floor of the house saying "WE HAVE ROT"

2025-03-05 20:43:02 +0000 UTCAlso, yes Breaking Bad is a classical tragedy. I love that you picked up on this. The actor Sir Anthony Hopkins once wrote a letter to Bryan Cranston talking about how much the show meant to him and saying just as much , it’s pretty short: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2013/oct/17/anthony-hopkins-bryan-cranston-breaking-bad-fan-letter

2025-03-04 00:55:06 +0000 UTCEric, not trying to “critique your critique” (you have a right to your opinion etc), but when you said “I wish Walter had a theme”: he does! Dave Porter who wrote all the original score for both BB and BCS wrote this piece called “Heisenberg’s theme” and it plays like 5 times throughout BB. Once either during Half or Full Measure, once when Walt is walking up to Gus’s house trying to shoot him in s4, once during Say My Name… can’t remember the rest. I think it really evokes feelings at least for me, but it’s probably something easier to pay notice to on a rewatch because it’s not “in your face”, which I hope you two get to do at some point. Here’s the link to the score to see if it elucidates the memory/feeling for you: https://youtu.be/61UEKToo3rw?si=MdVWNngk5sDr6qF5 I love your analyses of Kim’s motivations, I think you’re noticing a lot of things I didn’t notice on a first watch. As for Mike, I feel like his anger at Gus is fueled by feeling like he was trapped into killing Werner and for being put in that position - he hates the monster he has become and yes, I agree, it got to the point where he wanted to die or at least passively accept the fate he thought he deserved.

2025-03-04 00:46:49 +0000 UTCWhen you said “farmer guy” in the intro I thought you said “Barbie” which is a character name from another Dean Norris show “Under the Dome” which if it’s not on the future shows list it should be! Good but weird show!

2025-03-03 09:21:47 +0000 UTCLmao Jimmy is sexually submissive confirmed; Roleplaying as Kim while Kim roleplays as her boss turns him on? Also, noticing that Kim is usually the one who initiates sex, often by slamming Jimmy against a wall and kissing him with no warning 😂

2025-03-03 02:21:07 +0000 UTCYeah they could definitely use more music, but I do think that sometimes less means more. I will say though, they added a lot of great music in scenes with Lalo. He has a cool theme song as well

2025-03-01 05:16:00 +0000 UTCI think gus' POV is that he has a pure motive of revenge that excuses all of the terrible things he's done and will do in the future, but the Salamancas are motivated by only greed and that means they have no excuse for the things they do. And Mike might understand that after he killed two cops for revenge
