Better Call Saul REACTION 5x4 [Full Length Uncut]

It's like Jimmy said in his speech to Kristy, all his life he has felt looked down upon by the likes of Howard and his brother Charles. Jimmy still resents people like them, and although Howard was revealed not to be the real bad guy when it came to blocking Jimmy from joining HHM, the latter can't move past it. I think that's because, after Chuck's death, Howard is the closest person to Jimmy that can still embody the hypocritical, better-than-thou, rich lawyer that Jimmy despises. Jimmy does what he does with the bowling balls because he chose to attach that tag to Howard. It's like Jimmy is saying "Oh you think I'm going to buy that you've turned a new leaf and you've become kind and generous? Fuck you! I don't believe it. You're just offering me a job to insult me and remind me that I'm below you." What's sad, though, is that Howard hasn't really done much wrong in the entire story so far. The show wanted us to dislike him (like Jimmy did) initially, but once the fog cleared out and we found out the truth about everything at HHM, there was not much of a reason to hold on to our flawed perspective of Howard. He's not even responsible for Chuck's suicide. All of that to say that Howard definitely doesn't deserve this kind of treatment.

Restless Tome

I don't think Kim's new feelings toward Mesa Verde has anything to do with Chuck. I think it's simply that at first she was drawn to the allure of the prestige, the money, being her own boss, getting the respect she never had at HHM, but then she ultimately came to see the gig as meaningless and hollow. There's a scene in an earlier episode where Jimmy refers to their combined "superpowers." Kim sadly points out (something like) "Yeah, I'm turning a rich local bank into a rich regional bank." It's all become hollow for her. As to Jimmy re Howard: Howard's job offer must've felt like an insult to Jimmy. Remember, Howard screwed over Jimmy multiple times by now. First, not hiring him after the bar, then by not hiring him when he brought Mesa Verde. True, it was all Chuck's idea, Chuck was the judge, but Howard was the executioner. Then, Howard confessing his own feelings about Chuck's death being a suicide to Jimmy (which he didn't do to Rebecca.) But Jimmy got past it all, and now Howard wants to bring it all back -- and not for Jimmy, but for his own absolution. Howard is a self-serving sleaze in a nice suit who ripped open Jimmy's wounds for his own piece of mind. I can see why it would make Jimmy want to take childish revenge. There's a brilliantly subtle little scene at the beginning of this episode that beautifully demonstrates the diff between Kim and Jimmy. The night before, they're on their balcony. Kim throws a beer bottle into the parking lot. Jimmy follows. Kim does it again, Jimmy follows again, etc. BUT, the next morning, they see the broken glass on the pavement. Jimmy says that the apartment will take care of it, "that's what we pay rent for." Kim seems to agree, but after Jimmy drives off, she sweeps up all the glass by herself. They both enjoy making messes, but Kim tries to clean hers up.
