Honestly, I feel a bit conflicted about the whole situation, because when I try to see this from the company's perspective, I actually get it for the most part. They all signed NDA's when they joined the program, it's a legally binding document, they could have all been sued for breaking it. They specifically said "the rules have not changed" meaning that the rules they had were always in place, they weren't supposed to have those profiles, they weren't supposed to be posting ANYTHING related to the program at all, even on a private account only for the people in the program. Many KPop idols aren't allowed a phone AT ALL when they're training, the company trusted them to abide by the NDA and they all broke it instead of just starting a group text. When they're idols, that sort of behaviour could cost them brand deals, exposure opportunities and open the company up to lawsuits. They honestly could have dissolved the entire program because of what the girls did, the only reason they likely didn't is because they'd already invested so much into it. It's possible that if only half the girls had done it rather than all of them, they would have kicked half the girls out, but it was too late to start over from scratch. Naisha is the one who posted the original song, it's a more severe violation of the NDA, so it makes sense that her consequences were more severe. Whether or not she had people outside of the program following her wasn't the point, so whether or not she or Missy was right about that didn't matter, the song was the issue. But at the same time, I don't think Naisha was wrong in saying that her bearing the brunt of the punishments was at least in part because she's black. There were definitely a few micro-aggressions towards her throughout the program, certain words they used to describe her dancing and her attitude that did give me pause, especially given the way Manon was edited later. So yeah, still not sure how to feel, I think a lot of people underplay how serious this was, the girls reacted a lot more like they were high schoolers getting detention rather than people who broke a legally binding contract but at the same time, I can't deny that Naisha's treatment was really unbalanced compared to the minimal consequences everyone else received.
