it looks like a bunch of different platforms are either restricting or banning anything nsfw... first ko-fi, now paypal (although i'm sure one might have lead to the other).
fanbox posted this announcement, stating that paypal can no longer be used to support nsfw artists (although other payment methods can still be used). i know it's not the platform's fault, but damn is it annoying to hear...
anyway, make with this information what you will, i won't be upset if you choose to leave fanbox due to this change.

a cavate to this, the post says this restriction is for new users aka people who have not used paypal before, but who knows how long before paypal pushes to ban that as well.
