What's up PEOPLE?! I'm bored!
Added 2020-05-14 06:57:41 +0000 UTCHello BOOMers! I am trying to make this video about 5G, it is taking forever to edit! TOO MUCH ANIMATION! and not that great of a quality either! But there are some good information worth sharing in there.
I haven't see many souls recently! Kind of bored of not seeing other human beings! How's your lives? Hope you are safe and happy!
Have fun!

I've spent the entire lockdown watching ElectroBOOM videos. Thanks, Uncle Mehdi!
2020-07-02 02:25:02 +0000 UTCHey Mehdi, sorry to hear your stuck at home. I was working as a grocery clerk at one of the busiest stores in Washington state. I've been envious sometimes of being able to stay home. Too many ME! monsters out there making things harder.
2020-06-17 19:52:25 +0000 UTCTraditional light switches are just a dumb circuit break, so they can be installed anywhere in the circuit, and only need to break the live wire. which is why sometimes power will first go to the light and just send a leg down to the switch (no neutral required). Smart switches, as you suggested, need to draw power, which is why they need a neutral, so they can complete the circuit. The load line then goes to the fixture.
2020-05-20 18:04:22 +0000 UTCAbove the dirt, thank goodness. We did have a scare. Wife had to help someone who had a seizure at work and we found out later she had the coronavirus. Test came back negative this morning.
2020-05-18 16:59:50 +0000 UTCI'm not really bored, we have a lot of work to do at home, so... my father is going to germany(we live in hungary, he just has to work there). If he isn't home then i have nothing to do other than watching videos. So then i will be bored. Now I just want to go out with my friends, drink and forget every problem for a night... π
2020-05-16 23:28:36 +0000 UTCIm going stupid staying home all day not using my brain.. think im not alone /-
2020-05-16 16:20:37 +0000 UTCLike you..............alone!
2020-05-16 16:04:50 +0000 UTCMeh - whatever you say Doc. My phone is cool to the touch. Itβs a burning-like-stabbing pain which comes on quickly but not always and only in my thighs precisely where my phone is located, and only when NOT in flight mode. Does not happen when phone is held in hand or put in back pocket. Iβm in good physical health. I live in Australia, would never vote for Trump, not a flat-earther and been doing hobby electronics for 40-odd years (not that Iβm that good). Iβm not a dumbass that wants to sue Apple, not trying to get attention, or even make a fuss. I suspect Iβm more sensitive to radiation. Last I heard our phones use the 2.4Ghz spectrum for a good reason - same frequency that water molecules naturally resonate? Iβm pretty sure Iβm full of water molecules and coffee.
2020-05-16 05:14:58 +0000 UTCWhat do you use to produce your animations?
2020-05-16 02:08:17 +0000 UTC@Peter - a phone simply can't cause this, unless it's physically hot (and then you'll be able to feel it once you take it out). I recommend going to a doctor and checking that area for dermatitis, swollen lymph nodes, etc.

2020-05-15 07:47:22 +0000 UTCRe: phone radiation. A friend and I have both felt a weird burning like pain in our thighs (where our phones are in pockets). His was a Samsung Galaxy and mine an iPhone10. The pain is so bad that I have to suddenly take my phone out of my pocket and carry it around. Iβm not overly concerned and it does not happen always. I canβt see any correlation (ie phone ringing), but it would be good to see investigation on the subject. My gut feeling is my nervous system is being stimulated directly and I have no idea how this could translate to a provable experiment. Anyway - keep booming : )
2020-05-15 07:08:38 +0000 UTCHi Mehdi. Also very board. Some reason hard to concentrate and be creative after more than 9 weeks sequestration. Watching LOTS of youtube tho. I know a lot more about molecular biology, quantum mechanics, and 3d printing that I thought I'd ever need. Stay Strong! The world will start back up soon.

2020-05-15 05:59:33 +0000 UTCI'm way behind on producing videos, but I have a couple of projects that are now ready to film and then edit and publish.
2020-05-15 02:36:25 +0000 UTCDoing well and looking forward to your next video. I've been going back and re-watching some of your past videos using Keithley equipment, those are among my favorites.
2020-05-15 02:35:39 +0000 UTC5G- Arrggh--It's Covid!!! Otherwise, I'm fine. Glad to hear from you.

2020-05-15 02:06:14 +0000 UTCWait, isn't 5G the thing that gave us COVID-19?
2020-05-14 22:48:07 +0000 UTCBored to death here in Columbus. (Work excitement don't count.) I'm about to rewire my entire apartment, using every bit of my 5 minutes of education and 3.5 minutes of experience...[OW!!!!!]
2020-05-14 22:15:01 +0000 UTCHi, Mehdi. Since you're bored, I have a question for you. Why is it that some light switches (speaking from the US, but I've heard it's the same in Canada) are wired with a Neutral, but some are just "interrupters", with no neutral? I've been trying to install some smart switches, and often neither the light nor the switch will have a neutral wire, which many smart-switches need so they can power their radio components even when the light itself is off.

2020-05-14 21:38:29 +0000 UTCAs long as something goes bang after getting shorted out in the animation, I'm sure it'll be great :-)
2020-05-14 21:03:58 +0000 UTCSafe! Mostly happy.
2020-05-14 20:42:01 +0000 UTCFULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER!!!!!
2020-05-14 18:28:32 +0000 UTCMehdi, we know you are bored!! but for the love of god .. please keep all electrical shocks to a minimum .. or we will never get more videos :-) lol .. btw, how the west coast? I'm in Ontario.

2020-05-14 17:37:06 +0000 UTCPicked up some 35v 490,000 uF capacitors left over from a work project. Trying to come up with an excuse to use them.
2020-05-14 17:31:32 +0000 UTCLooking forward to your take on 5G! There are some actually educated people, even physics PhD out there sayin it causes cancer... (see Paul Heroux for instance). Needs rectifying!

2020-05-14 17:03:12 +0000 UTCyeah. go live.
2020-05-14 16:46:01 +0000 UTCSilver lining: I love the peace and quiet of these days. I get to spend more time in my lab/studio/laundry-room. If the cat isn't stinking up the litter-box in the room I have vast stretches of uninterrupted time to work on projects. Mehdi, enjoy your family we see in your videos. Involve them more often. Perhaps they will comment on what to expect from 6G, or 7G. Stephen Colbert just did a piece from home with his wife; funny as usual. More Silver Lining: fewer planes and cars; cleaner skys; better kept yards & lawns; all sorts of cultural improvements in education, medicine, home cooking; and finally, fewer mass-shootings! I'm all for the changes. Peace to you and your followers.

2020-05-14 16:33:04 +0000 UTCYou should go live!!
2020-05-14 14:17:23 +0000 UTCGood morning, Sir! Hope everyone there is well. Looking forward to the new video.
2020-05-14 14:10:52 +0000 UTCFucking hell... This pattern seems to be showing up frequently.
2020-05-14 14:09:07 +0000 UTCHI Mehdi, I understand what you mean. I am working from home at the moment, which has its challenged, mostly related to motivation, but once i have it, the workflow is so much better.
2020-05-14 13:44:15 +0000 UTCThanks for checking in. My life has gotten weird. I had COVID-19, and since then I've developed asthma and keep having chest pains, but getting into the doctor's office is a pain all its own and I'm just so tired all the time, even almost 2 months after I was taken off isolation.
2020-05-14 13:01:40 +0000 UTCI'm enjoying no longer having to come up with excuses to not leave the home lab and being asocial.
2020-05-14 10:43:19 +0000 UTCAnticipating your next Video. I'm a Carpenter, and have been building 2 Coffee Tables for the last few weeks. My life before Quarantine was similar to now. But I did like the option to eat at restaurants every once and a while, and have an excuse to talk to people. Just remember, all your Patreons are here in Spirit, supporting the cause. BOOMers.

2020-05-14 09:35:57 +0000 UTCI think there is so many easy fire animations, just put it on random "5G" transmiter lol
2020-05-14 09:30:52 +0000 UTC5G is the devil! No just kidding, can't wait for you video.
2020-05-14 08:59:49 +0000 UTCThat sounds great! Love to see that! I'm glad you're well. This year will make it to the history books for sure.
2020-05-14 08:55:35 +0000 UTCThat sounds like a scam... what does magnetism have to do with 5G and how will paint change anything?
2020-05-14 08:30:54 +0000 UTCHey Mehdi! Unfortunately in Greece there are many people that counfuse 5G radiation with radioactive decay ! I'm an undergraduate student at the University of Patras in electrical engineering, so I'm trying to do my research and voice the concerns of my relatives and friends hwo might be misinformed. Just two days ago my uncle told me that he brought a "scientist" to their home to measure harmful radiation from the nearby cell towers. The inspection cost 60 euro and now They're trying to sell special paint to block the radiation. I will take a look at the report just to reassure my uncle, do you think there could be some health concern? From what my uncle told me they measured high tesla levels, I'd like to hear your opinion. Much Love!
2020-05-14 08:20:57 +0000 UTCThanks mehdi. I have a bunch of assignments for my university and i am flustered, but i found some time to start building some electronics also, starting with a soldering iron. Thank you for getting me interested in this field
2020-05-14 08:19:22 +0000 UTCThanks for that Mehdi. Here in the Netherlands, we are taking a slow approach to the restoration after social distancing. Things will not be "normal" whatever that is, for a long time. I am bored as well, but being in a risk category, I don't dare go far from home. We are well here. Hope you are fine as well.

2020-05-14 07:57:20 +0000 UTCI soldered back LiPo contacts on a bike lamp that got forcefully disassembled by my washing machine... Even after two short-circuits during repairs it works fine. Tough little thing. But I wonder how much danger is stored in a 300 mAh LiPO.

2020-05-14 07:51:05 +0000 UTCSelf-education' s a big opportunity to learn electronics. Nowadays everyone need to be ready to study online. Watching MIT 6.002 course and reading a book that was published for that course. Good luck, Mehdi!
2020-05-14 07:45:37 +0000 UTCIβm doing well so far. University courses happen online, but my internet is so damn slow... if I turn on my webcam or share my screen, I loose the connection after a few seconds. Besides that Iβm trying to repair a Switched Mode Power Supply. I already found a broken Transistor (short between Base <-> Emitter) and I ordered a replacement. Iβm also thinking about building one of those WiFi-Guns (like the one from KREOSAN) and trying it out. I have no idea if it will work or if itβs fake, but it seems pretty easy to build, maybe I will just try it out for fun.
2020-05-14 07:26:12 +0000 UTCHi Mehdi, i wanted to show you a little device that it supose to lower the electrical bill, i mean it does work our bill have decrease a bit since, but i would love to see what it does, but the problem is i just can send you a pic of the device, and i don't know if you would tell what the heck is just by looking at the box thingy
2020-05-14 07:16:49 +0000 UTConline teaching is killing me. If you want to see people what about group video call with patreons?
2020-05-14 07:14:52 +0000 UTCJust a few hours down from Vancouver, in Seattle, things are slowly starting to reopen. Still WFH, will be continuing WFH for the rest of the year. :(

2020-05-14 07:11:55 +0000 UTCMorning π Sure you can't find anything to explode? π I'm working from home so no opportunity to get too bored. Got a couple of electronics projects in development and my misses is redecorating the bathrooms while she's being furloughed so plenty happening to keep us entertained.
2020-05-14 07:11:42 +0000 UTCNot bad, still doing electrical maintenance in a steel mill. Gotta keep the infrastructure supplied.

2020-05-14 07:07:02 +0000 UTCI'm building a nice HEPA air filter with an ionizer and a carbon filter to cut any ozone. I make everything too complicated. Prototype works but is bigger than i meant it to be. Working now to optimize size but keep the air flow path such that it isn't too loud. Not working is turning out to b almost like work* *exactly like work.

2020-05-14 07:06:07 +0000 UTCIf you are bored, let's go for a walk in downtown Vancouver. We can still keep the 2-meter distance! ;)
2020-05-14 07:05:26 +0000 UTCI'm doing ok ;) Revived an old electronics project idea I had 9 years ago, and have been learning a lot about microcontrollers, MOSFETs and high frequency optocouplers. Fun stuff!

2020-05-14 07:04:53 +0000 UTCHi Mehdi! Fine here in Hungary. I'm working from home for about 2 months now, I only go out to the post office or to the local grocery store. It's hard to keep when the working hours start and end on a day so I'm sitting in front of the computer almost the whole day. I'm an introvert so it's not a big deal for me but the need to wear a mask anywhere I go is kind of annoying. Keeping busy helps with the quarantine, I put together a sound box 2 weeks ago and I'm building a hollywood mirror (with many LED light) for my girlfriend in the following weeks :) I hope you and your family is doing well! Keep up the great work!

2020-05-14 07:04:47 +0000 UTCStill going for my doctorate at University of Washington. School online is a pain, but we persevere. Having your videos for study breaks is always a nice relief! Keep on doing awesome stuff, Mehdi! And I hope your family is safe and happy!

2020-05-14 07:02:35 +0000 UTCIβm working as a pizza delivery driver while I wait for this to end. Unfortunately I had to stop flight training, and I was so close to getting my instrument rating.
