Given all your high voltage work lately, have you thought about actually measuring the voltage/current waveforms from the Van De Graaff and the Voltage Multiplier using a scope? You'd probably need to rig up some sort of volt/current divider setups so you don't fry the scope in question (esp. since really high voltage probes aren't cheap), but it'd be interesting to see the numbers you get out of each setup (eg: just how much peak current/voltage each delivers on a big/full discharge)!

Awesome. A decent scope comes in handy when trying to diagnose cars with sensors. I could have really used one the other day while helping a financially challenged friend with his Chevy Blazer. It had a failing crankshaft position sensor, but without a scope, I couldn't definitively confirm the erratic pulses.

Oooooooh it would be fun to look at the line coding of 10BASE-T ethernet and try to pick out bit patterns... or dust off my Apple II and probe around some of the different logic signals, and look at the analog NTSC video signal... Gosh. If I don't win I might just have to go buy one of these.
