There's nothing quite like running into an old friend in an unexpected place. Can you see it in the fourth photo??
Redbreast 12 is hard to find in a Las Vegas hotel bar, let alone a boutique hotel in a small town in Austria! I stayed at Allstadthotel Weisses Kreuz, which was built in 1465, redone to be a "chic-shock-baroque" hotel, with a reception/bar/breakfast space on the 6th floor, with views of the surrounding Tyrolean mountains in Old Town Innsbruck. Everything about this hotel was special, especially the staff that helped with just about everything I needed.
After drinks, dinner was at the Ottoburg, just a 5 min walk from the hotel through the Christmas market. This is one of the oldest historical buildings in Innsbruck and they serve traditional Austrian fare, which was so very good. Originally, the Ottoburg served as a defense tower. The castle was built in 1180 by the Andechs Counts and in 1588 Georg Reitter, a merchant from Venice, bought the palace then named "รtt" or "รdburg". The history of it all is overwhelming!
Cheers to Wednesday and 4 days until Christmas! ๐ฅ
