Sometimes, Whiskey tastes better in the tub π. I swear I could spend all day in the Wynn suite jetted tub & shower. I was in heaven! Such a delicious bourbon, it is the perfect whiskey to end Bourbon May in honor of the Kentucky Derby. π
Maker's Mark 46 starts off as standard Makerβs Mark, which is a wheated bourbon. Then, heavily seared French oak staves are placed in just emptied standard Maker's Mark barrels. Then they are refilled and returned to the warehouses to finish aging for an undisclosed amount of time, which is an estimated 2-3 months.
Cheers to a great evening ! π₯
Notes from Master of Malt:
Nose: Toffee sweetness and saw dust from freshly cut wood. A very toasty aroma, with sweet spices and deep, thick caramel.
Palate: Creamy and very soft. Then it explodes with spiciness which concentrates on the tip of the tongue. Nutmeg, mulled wine spices, allspice, cinnamon. Also a hint of hot apple juice.
Finish: A natural progression of the palate with the sweet spices and it concentrates on the tongue β this may be one of the few times youβll notice a concentration of sweetness like this from a bourbon. It also becomes grassy after a minute or so.
