Whiskey Wednesday
Added 2021-05-05 23:41:22 +0000 UTCHappy Whiskey Wednesday AND Happy Cinco de Mayo! I didn't plan this very well, as I should be having margaritas today! But that's okay... With Derby this month, I thought it's only fitting to make it an all Bourbon month. Don't you agree?
Thank you very much to a few of you that were kind enough to send me some wonderful whiskey just in time for Derby! My cabinet has grown in content with a new bottle of Woodford Reserve, Blantons (I got a new letter!) and today's choice of Wild Turkey Longbranch. It just makes a girl blush. ๐
I learned that Longbranch is a collaboration between Wild Turkey's master distiller, Eddie Russell and Matthew McConaughey, the actor. (Alright, alright, alright ๐-for you 90s Dazed & Confused movie fans ). It's made with eight year old Wild Turkey bourbon, and brings together elements from Eddie and Matthew's home states, using charcoal made of both Kentucky white oak and Texas mesquite to filter the liquid. I really enjoyed it. I found it to be strong at first, but it grows on you and gets better with every sip. That seemed to be the consensus with a couple friends that sampled it as well.
So whatever you may be drinking tonight, be it tequila, mezcal, whiskey or sparkling water ~ Cheers to a wonderful evening!
