Glendalough Double Barrel Irish Whiskey is made by Glendalough Distillery, which was started by a group of friends who came together to revive the heritage of craft distilling in Ireland. They headed to the mountains, near Dublin and set up shop in their favorite spot, Glendalough. They say that Glendalough is one of the most beautiful and visited valleys in Ireland. It is also renowned for its 6th century monastic settlement founded by St Kevin, a legendary monk and the man on the bottle. Monasteries like Glendalough were the birthplace of distilled drinks. The story of St. Kevin is where this group of friends say they draw their inspiration. He abandoned safety and comfort to follow his passion
and create something more meaningful in the mountains.
Glendalough only recently become available in Las Vegas and I was very excited to try it. An inexpensive, nice and easy whiskey to drink. I would recommend. Cheers! 🥃
Notes from Master of Malt:
Nose: A creamy, malty nose begins with rich vanilla, white chocolate and buttery fudge. Notes of cooking apples, white grapes, marzipan icing and toasted oak form in the backdrop.
Palate: Succulent caramel, salty melted butter and crème anglaise provide a thick, decadent sweetness with a fruity underlay from blackberries and marmalade.
Finish: Polished oak and a hint of wood spice linger.
