Whiskey Wednesday

Happy Whiskey Wednesday Everyone! Most of this month's Whiskey Wednesdays will have a Winter theme, as I am looking forward to spending time in the snow. Today's pick is The Whistler ~Distillers Select~ Double Oaked Small Batch Whiskey. I chose this one because my original plan for my annual ski trip this year was to go to Whistler, Canada. I figure this is as close as I'm going to get to "Whistler" this season 😂.

Today, I'm also showing off my new Whiskey cabinet in the condo that I entertain in. This has been a long time coming and I'm so excited that I finally found the piece that was perfect for the space and exacty what I was looking for. Several of my whiskeys are still at home, but I will bring more over to display soon. 

The Whistler Double Oaked is one of three releases in the Trilogy Series all crafted by Michael Walsh, master distiller and master blender for Boann Distillery, which owns the brand located in Ireland's Ancient East Boyne Valley. It is a blend made from triple-distilled single grain and single malt whiskeys which aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 3 years. The whiskeys were married and aged further in oloroso sherry.  

I found it to be a smooth and warm blend, but not outstanding. There was nothing noticeable about it, but at it's price point, I wouldn't expect much more. If I had a choice, I'd probably go with a Teeling Small Batch or Jameson Caskmates Stout instead.

Nose :The aroma is lively with warm caramel and vanilla over notes of citrus zest and roasted pecans.

Taste: The palate begins with vanilla creams, opening to toasted oak, fig, and lemon curd.

Finish: The finish is medium to long with oak tannins and a dash of honey.
