Whiskey Wednesday
Added 2021-01-06 22:13:35 +0000 UTCToday's Whiskey Wednesday's pick is Teeling Single Pot Still Whiskey, which came all the way from Ireland. I haven't been able to find this in the U.S and a very kind patron gifted it to me.
I was very excited to try it, as Teeling made history with this one by bringing whiskey distillation back to Dublin. This whiskey was completely distilled in Ireland's capital - the first time this has happened in nearly half a century. I have tried a few Teeling whiskeys and this one seemed the most complex to me. Probably because of it being pot stilled ( a combination of malted and unmalted barley). I enjoyed it very much and appreciated the additional flavors.

Tasting Notes by Master of Malt:
Nose: Bourbon vanilla, stewed orchard fruits and a classic pot still spices initially, followed by dried herbs, leather and a hint of sherried funk. Thereβs an underlying sweetness from marshmallows, apricot yoghurt and banana milkshake.
Palate: Lots of creamy pot still character forms the core of the palate, from which notes of toasted barley, latte and salted caramel emerge. Then thereβs an array of dark fruit, winter spice and rich nuttiness underneath with touches of sharp red apple and milk chocolate emerging over time.
Finish: The chocolate and coffee notes become darker on the finish among stone fruit, a hint of oak spice and a touch of spearmint.
