General Update #54

Hey there everyone!

We have some news to share about the games with you. Let's have a look at what's happening!

Silent Echo

We've made progress on the underwater section, but to ensure that things meet our usual standard of high quality, we're taking an extra week of development time to polish it further. This means that Early Access for the new build will be next weekend, not this weekend.

With that important announcement out of the way, we can take a moment to look at the actual fun that's coming up. As you can see from the image preview, the xenomaterial corruption doesn't stop at the water's edge, with new and exciting foes waiting to be discovered in the depths of the submerged facility.

With a small labyrinth of underwater labs to explore and new threats to encounter, we're convinced that the upcoming watery adventure is going to be a unique challenge in the setting of Silent Echo, and are very excited to see how it will be received in the future.

Starwatch

We've made some good progress on the paperdoll update, with female MC being close to completion. We're already seeing huge benefits productivity and complexity wise on our side of things, so we're very happy about it.

In the previous update, we've sneaked in a makeup kit and tattoo style as part of testing for new customization options. This is now getting properly implemented, and we'll be shipping the next update with five makeup kits available for purchase right away.

We haven't looked much at tattoos yet, so if there is a particular style you would like to see to the game, feel free to tell us, this is the perfect moment.

In addition, some work has also started on updating male MC, with new haircuts and facial hair styles being added as well. We've added multiple new types of mustaches, beards, and a special stubble style. This brings up the amount of available facial hair customization options to 13 possible styles.

Progress has also been done on the technical aspect of this player update, and one thing I would like to address right away is that save compatibility will be maintained.

The way we're doing it is that when you load a save from a previous version, all of your existing clothes and saved outfits are purged from the save. You will be automatically given and switched to the new uniform items, and as compensation you will receive an extra 2500 credits to spend on the new items and customization options.

While it may be a surprising move, we've found this is the simplest and least error prone way of moving old saves over to the new system.

We're looking to get this out of the way before we start active development on the story content and updates of the new version.

November Artwork

The team got busy dealing with RL events early in the month and as time went by we didn't find free time where the artwork could be made.

As we're now approaching December, we'll focus on that instead and provide you with fun Christmas themed options to end the year with.

Oh, great, Xenomaterial killer shrimp. I bet Emilia will be excited. Hopefully it's not too much of a bother juggling between the projects. Still good to hear that the Starwatch Academy was taken out from the shelf and you guys thinking about old-save people.
