General Update #20

Hello agents!

Today we have some news to share about the development of Silent Echo's second chapter.

Combat Improvements

Supporters with the Captain+ tier have been able to beta test Chapter 2 and we've received a lot of valuable feedback about the game.

Based on that feedback, we have made significant changes to the combat system and also implemented new events and encounters.

The biggest change is that the game is transitioning from 3 damage types to 9 damage types. You will find that enemies are not the only ones that have received changes as a result of this. Player skills have also received changes as part of this rework.

For instance, you'll find that Piercing Shot and Grenade Toss have been moved to the Piercing damage type instead of Physical damage type, making them powerful tools against mechanical enemies and enemies with armor.

Other skills such as Cryogenic & Incendiary grenades have been moved to their respective damage types, making it easier to implement logical weaknesses and resistances to these elements, especially as new skills and potential weapons that make use of these new damage types appear into the game.

Due to this increase in complexity, the codex has been reworked to show a detailed table of enemy resistances and weaknesses. While it is still possible to play the game as usual, adjusting your kit to match your foes will allow you to have an easier time fighting enemies and may perhaps even allow you to win encounters that you otherwise wouldn't. Knowledge is power!

Overall progress

The changes that have been made for combat have taken quite some time to implement, but we still have made progress in other areas of the game.

A big push is being made on campaign content right now, with the main campaign event of Chapter 2 already containing 20 scenes of content.

The new enemies are all implemented and functional, Corruption 3 has been implemented as well, and we're currently implementing Corruption 4 and its consequences. The big chunk that is left is the new interactions and sex scenes with the existing and new companions.

Overall the progress is good and every day we're getting closer to completing the required content for the initial release. I think 2 weeks from now is a pretty good estimate of how much time we still need to spend on the game before we can release it in early access.
