GTS Summoner Ch 10: The Disappearing Titan, A Calamities End!

Markus groaned. His whole body ached like he'd been tossed into a cement mixer—which, given recent events, wasn't far from the truth. His fingers twitched against the cracked pavement, his lungs burning as he sucked in a shaky breath.

Was he dead?

He slowly opened his eyes, squinting against the lingering brightness that still hovered in the air. The golden light that had surrounded everything just moments ago had faded, but the world still felt... wrong. The air hummed. The ground rumbled beneath him, an unnatural tremor that made his bones feel like they were vibrating.

Markus tried to push himself up, only to be slammed back down as the earth beneath him gave a violent shudder.

"W-what's happening?" he coughed, his voice hoarse.

Something was shifting. Something massive.

Forcing himself to look up, he saw her.

The knight.

She was kneeling, her colossal body hunched forward, one trembling hand gripping the hilt of her sword like it was the only thing keeping her upright.

Her breaths came in short, ragged gasps—each exhale creating powerful gusts of wind that sent debris skidding across the ruined streets. Her golden hair, usually so neatly tied, was a disheveled mess, strands clinging to her flushed, sweat-drenched face.

Her eyes...

Her crimson eyes were rolled back.

Markus swallowed hard.

She looked like she was about to pass out.

And yet—

"I-I have to kill him."

Markus stiffened.

Her voice was shaky, barely above a whisper, but filled with sheer determination. Even as her body trembled, even as her breaths came in painful gasps, she was forcing herself back up.

"I have to do it... n-now."

Her legs shook as she stood. The metal of her armor groaned under the strain, but she still lifted her sword.

Markus felt a cold weight settle in his gut.

"Oh, come on, she's still standing?" he muttered, scrambling back.

Her crimson eyes fell on him again—this time with raw desperation.

She took a step forward.

The ground quaked.

Another step.

Markus felt his stomach flip. She wasn't stopping.

Her entire body swayed, exhaustion evident in every motion, but she was still coming for him.

She wasn't done.

Markus held his sister close, his mind racing for an escape that did not exist. His breathing hitched as the sky itself darkened, her massive form blocking out what little light remained.

Her shadow fell over him.

The blade of her sword glowed, pulsing with power.

She was about to strike.

Markus squeezed his eyes shut.

"Stay away!" he shouted.

The moment the words left his mouth—

The knight froze.

Markus hesitated, cracking one eye open.

She was just... standing there. Sword raised. Body trembling.

Her mouth parted slightly as if she wanted to say something, but all she did was let out a soft, breathless gasp.

Her free hand clutched at her stomach like she'd been punched.

"Not... again..." she rasped.

Her knees buckled, her enormous frame jerking backward as if an invisible force had gripped her.

Markus blinked.

What the hell was happening?

Then, he felt it.

A warmth.

Deep in his chest.

A slow, radiating heat.

His heart pounded as he looked down and saw it—

His chest was glowing.

A soft, golden light pulsed beneath his skin, flickering like embers in the wind.

His breath caught in his throat.

"Okay. That's new."

The knight saw it too.

Her eyes widened. Then—she panicked.

Without warning, she turned and ran.

Markus barely had time to process it before the entire city trembled under her frantic retreat.

Her massive steel boots shattered the pavement with each step, sending shockwaves rippling through the ruins. The wind from her movements alone tore through the streets like a hurricane, throwing dust and debris in every direction.

"I'm not going back!" she yelled.

Her voice boomed through the air, desperate and furious.

"I'm finally free!"

The light surrounding Markus pulsed brighter.

The knight stumbled.

Her colossal body flickered.

Markus stared, confusion tightening in his chest.

Her form—

She was fading.

The edges of her massive figure dissolved into dust, scattering into the wind.

She clawed at her own arms, as if trying to hold herself together, as if fighting against something unseen.

"I-I still haven't gotten my revenge!"

Those were her last words before—

She was gone.

Just like that.

The tremors stopped.

The wind died.

Silence fell over the city.

Markus stood there, panting, heart still hammering against his ribs. The warm glow in his chest faded, leaving nothing but the cold bite of reality.

He hesitated, then turned, slowly taking in the aftermath.

The street around him was ruined.

The buildings that hadn't already been destroyed were on fire.

The air was thick with smoke, the sky barely visible through the layers of dust and ash.

And where the giant knight had once stood—

There was nothing.

Just empty space.

Markus let out a breath.

"What the hell was that?"
