The trek through the hallway was brutal.
Dirt clung to my boots, dust stuck to my clothes, and I was pretty sure I had just stepped in something wet—which, given my size, was more terrifying than I cared to think about. The air was thick, heavy with heat, making every breath feel like I was inhaling through a wool blanket.
But hey, at least I wasn't walking through carpet. That would have been a death sentence. Carpet was like an endless jungle of fibers just waiting to trip me up or swallow me whole. Hardwood was bad enough, filled with dust, grime, and whatever tiny debris had been left behind by giants who didn't think twice about what fell to the floor. But at least here, I could actually move.
Still, the heat was getting unbearable. My clothes clung to me, and my forehead was damp with sweat. I pressed forward, gritting my teeth as I stepped over a particularly large clump of dust.
Then, the ground began to tremble.
A rhythmic, earth-shaking boom echoed through the hallway. The vibrations sent ripples through the wood beneath my feet. I froze.
Boom.
A gust of wind rushed past me as a massive socked foot slammed into the ground a short distance ahead. The sheer size of it was unreal, the fabric of the sock stretching taut over the enormous shape. The grooves in the fabric alone were deep enough that I could probably wedge myself into them like a rock climber.

I tilted my head back, my breath catching as my eyes traveled up, up, up—past the colossal shin, past the towering knee, all the way to the distant form of Mr. Takamura. The man was a giant, an absolute monolith moving through the hallway with the kind of effortless ease that made it clear he had never once worried about stepping on someone like me.
He stepped right over me, his other foot swinging forward in a blur of movement. I braced myself, half-ready to phase out of existence just in case I needed to avoid becoming a smear on the floor. But the foot landed several feet away—well, several feet in his scale. To me, it was like being narrowly missed by a collapsing building.
I let out a shaky breath and wiped the sweat from my forehead. "Thank god."

Once I was sure he was gone, I kept moving.
The journey took nearly an hour. By the time I finally reached the door I hoped belonged to Yuna, I was exhausted. My legs burned, my throat was dry, and I was pretty sure I had inhaled at least three different types of dust particles that would probably give me a respiratory disease.
Still, I wasn't about to quit now.
I pressed a hand against the door and concentrated. My body flickered, shifting out of existence as I phased through the thick wooden barrier.
The instant I stepped inside, I was hit with a wave of intense heat. It was like walking straight into a sauna—if saunas also had the distinct, overwhelming scent of sweat. My eyes watered from the sheer strength of it, my nose burning as I took a step forward.
"What the hell...?" I muttered, covering my mouth with my sleeve.
Then, I looked ahead.
My brain stalled. My body locked up.
Because right there, in the middle of the room, was Yuna.
And she was doing push-ups.
Massive. Earth-shaking. Push-ups.
Her gigantic body stretched across the floor, muscles flexing and shifting with every powerful movement. Beads of sweat dripped down her arms, rolling off her skin and landing on the floor in loud splashes. Each push-up sent a tremor through the ground, shaking the very air around me.
I stared, my mouth dry.
"I-Is she seriously doing push-ups?" I whispered to myself, eyes wide.
This wasn't just normal exercise—this was an onslaught. Her form was perfect, her body moving with precision as she pumped out rep after rep, completely unfazed by the heat and humidity that was suffocating me.
The sheer strength on display was ridiculous. Every time her body lowered toward the ground, it felt like a mountain was coming down. Every time she pushed herself back up, I swore I could feel the force of it in my chest.
I gulped.
Maybe... just maybe, I should have knocked. "Yea right."
I took a deep breath and moved forward, stepping carefully as I approached Yuna's lowering form. The heat in the room was oppressive, thick and heavy like I had just wandered into the heart of a volcano. Every breath I took felt like inhaling steam. Sweat clung to my skin, and I had to resist the urge to wipe my forehead for the hundredth time.
But none of that compared to her.
Up close, Yuna was a force of nature.
Her muscles flexed and bulged with every controlled movement, her arms and shoulders rippling with raw power as she lowered herself down, her entire form stretching across the room like some kind of living colossus. Her back was a landscape of strength, her skin slick with sweat that caught the light and made her look almost golden.
I hesitated near her foot, staring up at the massive thing. Even relaxed, her foot looked absurdly powerful—every tendon and muscle defined, the wrinkles in her skin shifting ever so slightly with each movement. Her toes curled slightly, and I had to fight back the intrusive thought that she could probably crush me without even realizing it.

Still, I had to admit... this was kind of amazing.
Alphas spent most of their lives training, honing their strength and discipline. I knew that. But seeing it was something else entirely.
I exhaled, shaking my head. "Alright, focus, Cain. You came here for a reason."
Which, now that I thought about it, how was I supposed to get her attention?
She was huge. Her arms alone were bigger than some buildings. Her entire focus was on her training. And considering she had yet to notice the tiny speck that was me standing near her foot, I doubted just shouting her name would do much.
I scratched the back of my head, glancing around. Maybe if I climbed onto her foot and poked her? ...No. Bad idea. That could end really badly. I liked my limbs attached to my body, thank you very much.
Throw something at her? Also a bad idea. Knowing my luck, she'd think it was a bug and swat me into next week.
I sighed. "This is ridiculous."
Still, I had come all this way. I wasn't about to not get her attention now.
I took another breath, braced myself—
And cupped my hands around my mouth.
"HEY, YUNA!"
Nothing.
She kept moving, lowering herself into another push-up, completely unfazed.
I frowned.
"YUNA!"

Still nothing.
Okay. New plan.
I took a step closer to her foot, clenched my fists, and then—without thinking too hard about it—punched her toe.
It was like punching a brick wall.
Pain immediately shot up my arm, and I yelped, shaking out my hand. "Ah—dammit, that was stupid!"
I barely had time to register my mistake before Yuna's foot twitched. Then, her entire body shifted.
And I suddenly realized I had very much made a mistake.
