Psylocke Vol 2 Ch 5: Espers and Psychics, The Name Of A Hypothetical
Added 2024-09-30 00:15:44 +0000 UTCI looked up at Ms. Drake, trying to ignore the massive breasts that seemed to spill out onto the table in front of me.

"True psychic," she repeated, her breath washing over me. It actually smelled pleasant and clean. I was cold, and the warm breeze felt comforting. "It's a term that refers to someone who has achieved unimaginable power."
I said nothing as I tried to imagine such a being. "T-that sounds amazing," I said with a smile.
"Don't you think so?" Ms. Drake chuckled. "It's too bad that such a person doesn't exist."
"What?" I looked up, shocked.
"It's just a term the science department came up with."
"So then why did you say that I could become one?" I asked, stepping forward.
Ms. Drake sat back in her chair and took a deep breath, her eyes closed as she did so.
"Psychic energy... a power discovered at the beginning of the United Military, is a type of energy found in the cellular structure of a person's body and is controlled by one's mind," Ms. Drake explained. "Since the beginning, the UM has been looking for psychic-powered people, but such a condition is very rare."

It made sense to me; after all, I didn't see people moving around objects with their minds.
"Those people are called Espers. You are an Esper," she said, looking down at me.

I stood straight, and as I did, I felt something wrap around my waist. I looked down to see a massive index finger and thumb surrounding me on both sides. I was lifted off the ground and transported to the massive lap of Grace, who was looking at me with a smile. I sat down and took my favorite seat.
"So what's the difference between an Esper and a True Psychic?" I asked.
Ms. Drake's smile grew wider as she looked down at me, probably because of my new position.
"The power of an Esper and a True Psychic are said to be vastly different..."
"How so?" I asked.
Ms. Drake said nothing. Actually, for a while, she said absolutely nothing. "I have no idea," she said with a smile.
"What?" I asked, confused.
Ms. Drake brought up both of her hands and shook her head. "Like I said, a True Psychic is nothing but a hypothetical, so not a lot of people know all that much about it."
"The most we do know is that Espers can use a variety of psychic abilities, like mind reading, controlling the elements, or even a degree of telekinesis," she explained.
"Right, Ms. Saxon explained as much to me," I said, remembering my training.
"And you, Mr. Alderman, seem to possess greater power than a regular Esper."

"Huh?" I said, confused. "Wait a minute, what are you saying?"
Ms. Drake dug her hand under the desk and seemed to pull something out from the bottom. Grace's lap vibrated as the desk began to shake ever so slightly.
"Take a look at this," Ms. Drake said, holding up a massive E-Pad (like an iPad) that displayed data and the outline of a human silhouette.
The silhouette on the screen glowed with vibrant colors, pulsing with energy. "This," Ms. Drake continued, "is a standard Esper's energy reading." She swiped her finger across the screen, and the silhouette changed. The new image was much brighter, almost blindingly so, and the energy readings spiked off the chart. "And this is your reading, Mr. Alderman."
My eyes widened as I took in the differences. "That's... that's me?" I asked, incredulous.
"Yes," Ms. Drake said, leaning closer, her gaze intense. "Your psychic energy levels are off the charts. We've never seen anything like it."
"Uh, thanks," I said with a smile. It did feel good to be appreciated.
"And that's why you are here," Ms. Drake continued, "that's why you will join Psylocke, so that we can test your abilities. Do you understand?" She lowered her mountain-sized face closer to me.
"Yeah, I think I get it," I replied, feeling the warmth of her breath wash over me.
Grace gently squeezed me in her lap, her fingers a comforting presence around me. "You'll do great," she whispered, her voice full of encouragement.
Ms. Drake straightened up, her imposing presence filling the room. "Excellent. We'll start your training tomorrow. For now, get some rest and familiarize yourself with the facility. Darcy show him to his new home."
"Yes, ma'am," Darcy said as she rose and reached down for us with her wide hand, carefully lifting Grace, Breonia, and me away from the table.
My eyes stayed focused on Ms. Drake, who was looking back at me. I was as small as a spot of dust to her, but I had no doubt she could see me.
Darcy was already outside the room, about to close the door. I turned and got one last look at one of the most famous kings. She still held her smirk as she looked at me, and with that smirk, she added a small wink.

"Gulp." I had the feeling that I was going to see her again, and I wasn't sure if that was a good thing.

"So that's her child. He really is an interesting boy," Helena said as she sat at her desk. "I wonder how much he really knows." Her eyes became saddened. "I really can't help but wonder."
