Before the movie and tv shows of Constantine and Lucifer were cutting wings off of angels, Hellblazer had a story about an angel and a demon falling in love and having to go into hiding when they got pregnant. The angel had John Constantine cut off his wings for him in order to get around on earth without attracting attention. ... oh.. ok, so I went way past the "inspiration" part. lol but the idea of an angel falling in love, paired with Lucifer's jealousy of human's being God's favorites were the kernels of inspiration there. And as side not, let us not doubt for a moment that young Dreamy wasn't fucking traumatized by the idea of an angel getting his wings cut off
