Doctor Who S5 Eps 6+7! (Patreon Exclusive)

I don't understand the relationships in this show...

In this video I'm reacting to the episodes "The Vampires of Venice" and "Amy's Choice".

When you were talking about the relationships in this show and how they're kind of bad, it reminded me of a video by VerilyBitchie called "Dr Who vs Women". I'd suggest you don't watch it because, well, big spoilers. However they talk about how Amy/Rory and River/Doctor are written as characters and couples. I'd recommend the video to others who either have already seen the show or don't care about spoilers. Either way the poor relationship writing definitely started (or at least got worse depending on who you ask) with the new show runner from season 5. I could never get behind Amy being in a relationship between either the Doctor or Rory to begin with at least.

ngl, i always find it funny when people mistake rory/amy for siblings since that often happens to my partner and i!! i think it's kinda the curse of having grown up with that person, that often you don't feel the need to do as much PDA and because the relationship is founded on friendship, that's often what people see first on the surface. i think amy and rory actually have a really great relationship that you will get to see more of the background of later in the series! it just comes off weird right now because amy is getting over her starstruck feelings of the doctor! there will be more than a few reasons why it's honestly much better this way but SPOILERS!! LOL

Yeah, the relationships are sometimes written weird.. Like a nerdy gay 12 year old would write them, sometimes, and other times like somebody who's never been in a relationship at all would after hearing about relationships. It's odd.

Amy doesn’t actually love the Doctor. She’s more star struck for him than anything else. You have to remember that she met the Doctor when she was just a child and was completely amazed by his mysterious blue box that had a swimming pool in the library. As also revealed in the show she had to go through several years of therapy where people continually told her that he wasn’t real which she really didn’t want to believe. As Amy grew old she just finally started to realize that the Doctor was never going to return so her mind, most likely, subconsciously started comparing every man she met or dated to the Doctor. She probably thought they weren’t as exciting as the Doctor. Meanwhile Amy has known Rory since they were kids so there love us actually based on real emotions. You may not see it now but you will as the show goes on. Unfortunately for Rory when the Doctor returns it also brings back Amy’s star struck mindset for the Doctor. She watches his save the world and when he once again invites her to a life of adventure she immediately says yes. So again, Amy isn’t actually in love with the Doctor she’s just completely impressed by him to the point that she’s confusing admiration with love. If you also notice in the Amy’s Choice episode she has a bit of a similar moment that Rose did when she meets Sarah Jane. She thought that, up until this point, that she was the only one that’s travelled with the Doctor. I don’t think it fully impacted on her like it did Rose however just cause she’s never met any of the past companions and the Doctor hasn’t really brought any of them up. There’s also another reason why Amy cant love the Doctor but that would be spoilers 😋. When you find out the reason your jaw will drop!

Dream lord in Doctor who. The Nightmare man in The Sarah Jane Adventures

The Baker's Ruview

Amy is a complicated girl. I suppose that's the best way to state it right now. Her parents abandoned her, her aunt abandoned her, the Doctor abandoned her. Rory stayed and absorbed all that anger about all those people leaving, and yet he stayed. And then the Doctor shows up again and she'd been developing romantic feelings for Rory and then the Doctor disappears again for six months. Then the Doctor shows up and there's a chance for adventure and Rory always stays, so why shouldn't she go on adventures?

The Doctor said who the Dream Lord was in the episode. He was a psychic manifestation of the darker parts of the Doctor's character, given life by psychic pollen that was stuck in the time rotor of the TARDIS.

I think it is because the Doctor was/ is TERRIBLE at reading social cues and such... So it doesn't sound as ,,offensive" - Not saying Rory means it in an offensive way btw. - So I think people now subconcously ,,dismiss" the Doctor's - would be -very offensive comments

Rory calling the vampire SpongeBob really had me! 😆

I've watched a LOT of Doctor who reactors... and it's always really interesting to me about how no one's offended when the Doctor says amy "swallowed a planet" and that she's all "elaphanty" but they immediately home in on Rory calling her "chubs". just something i've noticed

The Vampires of Venice - You didn't struggle without the subtitles? I did a bit. - Have you ever been on a Stag Do/Bachelor Party or a Hen Do/Bachelorette Party? - "It says I'm your eunuch?" - Eunuchs were castrated servants. Rory getting emasculated from the start. - The library card the Doctor mistakenly uses instead of the psychic paper belonged to the First Doctor. - "I'm from Ofsted" - Ofsted is the school inspectors organisation. - "Why are they taking those things out of the castle?" - The steward is a human collaborator. He's realised his time is up and is running off with the gold. Amy's Choice - Bad wig alert! - The Valeyard, the Doctor of War, the Timelord Victorious, the Dream Lord... the Doctor has a lot of darkness in him. - That was a nice pair of episodes. I'm afraid the upcoming 2 parter is a bit of a dud. But after that is an episode guaranteed to make you cry.

1:04:58 ,,What are you, the Sandman?" - Oh no... Morpheus is WAY more powerful with way less ,,drama" - Highly recommend reacting to the show btw, amazing watch... Can be terrifing at times (the Diner), but a VERY deep show... Love Season 2 so far (even tho I know whats comeing - There could be a few difference, depending what/ how they will adapt the comics)

If I had a nickle for every time Arthur Darvill's character (Rory's actor) faced off against someone called ,,The Dream Lord" I'd have two nickles... Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. - ,,If its ideas you want, then you shall have them... In ubandence" (btw I LOVE this line, one of the MANY examples of why you don't cross them, none of them - I dream (heh) of the day he (the actor) is in DW someday)

50:07 ,,Remember us, dream of us" Me: Whenever I hear any of their names (in ANY show) all I can think about is that they mean THEM... I know it isn't, its just my weird head-canon.

Lmao fun fact in Classic Who the Doctor thinks the manual is a door stopper. Amy does love Rory, you'll see.

The Vampires of Venice: 3:23, "Oh no." It's not what you think Morgan. *6 seconds later* "😲🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Doctor." See, I told you it wasn't what you thought😏 4:36, "Funny how you can say something in your head, and it sounds fine." Yup🙂‍↕️. Been there *coughs 100* times😅 Amy's Choice: 55:10, "You swallowed a planet! I'm pregnant." Always makes me laugh🤣🤣🤣 Last edit (wasn't really much this time, huh😅): Well, that was, something. Full disclosure, I skipped most of that last episode. Not because of you Morgan, but because it gives me a headache, and I don't need that on top of this f*cking heatwave here in Norway right now! It's freaking 83 degrees (28 Celsius) Fahrenheit over here🥵🌡. But anyway, that's it for this time. I'll see you in the next reaction video Morgan. Bye✌🏼😁

Julie Moum

You'll see in time she really does love Rory. I believe she is running away from the marriage because she believes she is afraid of the idea of settling down into a normal, boring life, most likely due to her excitement at living an adventurous lifestyle with the Doctor. This would tie in to the way she acts early on with the Doctor is because she is starstruck due to here fascination with him she has had for so long. But eventually the loss of Rory in Amy's Choice causes her to come down from that high and make her fully recognize the extent of how much she loves Rory again.
