Traegia V1 Release

Thank you beta testers for helping me out with testing this. I've reached the point where this avatar is what I would consider done, though there may be some bug or other that I've not encountered yet!

Required:

  • Unity (version dependent on app SDK you're using)
  • VRC/CVR SDK
  • Poiyomi v8 shader

Recommended:

  • GoGoLoco
  • Substance Painter 2021.1 or newer

Traegia Beta v1.3

Updated the mesh and UV map, new Substance Painter file has been provided together with the unity package.

(Note: forgot to mention but the SP file only works with SP 2021.1 and up, for whatever reason Adobe or Allegorithmic never believed in backwards compatibility....)

Traegia Beta v1.2b

Changes (1.2a)

 • Updated normal map.

 • Adjusted weight paint on tail and legs.

 • Adjusted rig to reduce oddities with leg motion (hopefully).

 • Adjusted dynamics, added angle limits to tail, and reduced motion on toes.

 • Replaced scene environment map with a compressed map, much smaller file size.

Traegia Beta v1.2

Adjusted leg proportions, bones are pretty much equidistant now. I may experiment with adjusting the digitigrade bone structure a bit more and turn the knees and heels into proper hinge joints, but that's more of a me-being-a-perfectionist thing more than anything else.

Added visemes and eyelid blendshapes, mostly because it wasn't very realistic having the eyelids physically move left or right.. I've also added some blendshapes for doing emotes with, but I haven't yet set up the player...

Traegia Beta v1.1a

Optimized a bit, and got blendshapes working now.

Also reduced file size a lot! Shrunk the source textures and compressed them.

Substance Painter file is included now, as well.

Known Issues

- Fins are still a bit finicky, that's kind of the nature of the rig at the moment, and I'll be working on getting the positioning correct.

- Tail in general needs to have its weights smoothed more

- Visemes aren't added in yet.

Traegia Beta v1.1

Haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I have changed up the legs a bit so digitigrade legs should work a bit better now. I will look into also having a more traditional locked-ankle setup as well.

I'm not sure why Unity isn't showing blendshapes, there's not really any reason as to why this would be happening, and it's quite annoying. Unfortunately I lost one of the body mods while updating the mesh, but that's a relatively easy fix (just do it again).

This is a beta version, some things are going to be missing initially. I will be adding more over the weekend as I can.

Not quite ready yet, just the rig and visemes to sort out (getting the twist bones set up correctly is the primary focus right now).

The default texture is done, though, and seems to hold up quite well with the body shapes, though I suspect if I want to go any further then I'd need to be able to interpolate between two (maybe three) sets of textures, and that'd be a nightmare on client-side performance. >__>

Retopology is done, will do some optimizations to it to get the poly count down a bit, presently sitting at around 38k tris, so there's a bit of wiggle-room to get it down below at least 30k. Not entirely happy with the inside of the mouth but it's generally a pain in the rear to get right anyway, but there should be enough there for decent visemes.

I imagine I should have at least a basic texture setup for this on the weekend for testing, will be getting the rig sorted out ton...

First off, thank you for sticking with me while I've not had a lot to show over the last year or so. I am slowly working on commissions once more, and hope to have a little more new stuff to share soon.

Had experimented a bit more with scaling techniques here, probably want to get some more alphas for doing scales though but a lot seem to be made specifically for ZBrush rather than being PNGs. :c Oh well, probably need to make my own... Also used a bit of soft body physics to add a little bit of weightiness!
