Doctor Who S4 Special 3 (Patreon Exclusive)

I'm so nervous for how unhinged the doctor is becoming...

In this video I'm reacting to the episode "The Waters of Mars".

This actually lead to a comic run about the “timelord victorious where he was stopped lo and behold… the doctor

This has got to be one of my favourite Doctor who episodes even though it always makes me cry. You can really tell the loss of Donna is impacting the Doctor, who has no one to stop him. David does a phenomenal job in this one creating that uneasy feeling towards the Doctor; also the music is really good in this one. Since you're near the end of the David Tennant era I'd recommend the bloopers (I'd personally recommend them after the specials, it helps with the emotional damage a bit) I've actually made a playlist with the bloopers for series 2 & 3 and the farewell video (it has spoilers for the last specials), so you have the highest quality vids. Here's the link if you're interested: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQbczCO15WUubm_iQRhUbSyCL9eiVBG0n&si=zTo88fZ0_mzw9uAk I also included the 3 David Tennant video diary "series" videos in the playlist, which is just David recording himself behind the scenes of the show. They are kinda long (about an hour and a half) but I imagine you'd quite enjoy them.

Excellent video! I think I like this episode more now than when it first came out, looking back at it instead of forward from it. The break you mentioned before starting S5? Might be a good idea. It'll let you recover from the emotional damage...

I love your doctor who reactions because you really understand the doctors pain 🫶

8:27. Morgan, I'm SO GLAD you noticed him in the background! I was like, "WTH MORGAN?! Look in the background!" But then thankfully, you did😊. Now, WTH was with him? Keep in mind, this is literally the first time I'm watching this special 23:05, "And you're growing veg!" 🤣🤣🤣 41:30. He's like "Damn iiiiiiiit!" Cause he knows, he's too curious for his own good! 1:16:30, "I'm the winner. That's who I am. The Time Lord Victorious." This is, probably the Darkest line from The Doctor, I've ever heard. Time Lord "Victorious?" No. No no no no no no! You're the Doctor! You help people. You save lives! "Victorious" sounds more like a conqueror to me! Not a man who saves lives, but one who takes and gives at a whim. No one, should have that final say, on who gets to live or die! This is why The Doctor NEEDS a companion! Someone who can keep him grounded, and remember that life, no matter the form, is precious! 1:18:05, "Idk. Maybe it's just my pessimistic nature, but I'm genuinely scared for wtf the Doctor is going on about now." Good, you should be pessimistic right now. This isn't the funny and loving Doctor. He's different, and I think, not in a good way😐 1:21:55, "WTF am I in for The Next Episode?" I honestly don't know🤷🏽‍♀️. I'm both nervous and somehow excited to see the next reaction. It'll be the last of David Tennant😢 Last edit: Well, I'm glad I watched this episode in broad daylight, cause I would've had nightmares if I saw this last night😱! But besides that, yes Adelaide offed herself, and changed a little bit of history. She knew, she wasn't gonna let Victorious win. Again, I'm nervous about the next DW reaction. See ya in the next reaction Morgan. Bye👋🏼

One more week to prepare for Morgan's heartbreak...

I'm honestly surprised no one has kept track of the amount of Doctor Who episodes that made me cry lol

Morgan Reacts

And this is why my everything clenches any time there's new reports of water on Mars. The Doctor's speech there at the end... that's who he is. His Companions keep him grounded. As terrified the nightmares of our universe are of him, so to is he afraid of himself.

Ugh this episode is so good. You really see the Doctor go dark and then his shock at Adelaid's suicide, it's so well written.

Episode observations: Mia's actress is another who went on to be a minor Hollywood movie star. "Dog robots, that's different" - He's thinking of K-9. I don't think Adelaide is being strict because she misses her family, I think she needed to cultivate steel and drive to achieve being commander in these missions and now she's "arrived" she can't turn it off and enjoy the moment. If there was a spreadsheet checking which episodes succeeded in making you cry, I wonder what the proportion would be? ;) Compare the special effects of the shuttle exploding with those of the flying bus from Planet of the Dead. Quite a difference in quality. It's not the first time the Doctor has shown shades of megalomania. In the 80s there was a villain called The Valeyard who was revealed to be an evil incarnation of the Doctor. Lot of comparisons between him and the Time Lord Victorious. "Someone without rules is a dangerous person" - as a very smart person once said, "Good men don't need rules. Today is not the day to find out why I have so many."

Him and the Master not that different at the core (both of them being ,,the Last of the Time-Lords" and all), its just the Doctor (for the most part) is more symphatetic towards humans/ humanity/ other intelligent species than the Master... They are the definition of forever frenemies... Till the end of time if you will😉

I'm sad what the next reaction will hold (And I've seen these two episode quite a few times)

Small correction: while Neptune is blue and named after the Roman god of the sea, it is made of gas and not water. Jupiter's moon Europa on the other hand... Also, yeah, the Time Lords were in charge of what parts of history someone could change or not, and had a strict rule about fixed points in time...which kinda explains why they're called Time Lords in the first place. Oh, and a small dark fact: while it was subtle, at the end of the episode, the Doctor was borrowing a few lines nearly word for word from the Master...implying that he might as well have started the path to become just like him. From the classic series: "I am the Master, and you will obey me." In this episode: "The laws of time are mine, and they will obey me!" From Utopia: Master: "Use my name." Doctor: "Master...I'm so sorry." Master: "Tough!" This episode: Adelaine: "No one should have that power." Doctor: "Tough."

I'm so scared for the next two episodes, I don´t wanna see the end of David Tennant Doctor i so love him as a doctor and it makes me so sad it gonna ends im so scared what's gonna happen next

I need that shirt. Also, continuing with Matt’s doctor is awesome news, can’t wait to see that too

Since you asked for things to cover in your video, I think one important out-of-universe aspect to the production is that the man in charge of the show at this time, Russel T Davies, is an out gay man

Verdigree

Remember at the end of the ,,Runaway Bride" when Donna says that the Doctor should not travel alone... THIS is what happens when he travels alone for too long... Especially with no one to knock some human morale into him (You remember just how alien the Doctor really is... Even is he spends most of his time on Earth). Also the Doctor saying ,,The laws of time are MINE, AND THEY SHOULD OBEY ME!" is so interesting watching given Crowley's powers in GO... I remember watching the Season 1 finale, and him doing his little ,,demonic intervention" and THIS line just ran in my mind on loop seeing his powers.

Yeah Morgan. This was certainly an episode where The Doctor has a full blown identity crisis. After everything he lost all to help protect “the rules”, who wouldn’t go off the rails at least once in his shoes. 😱 Also it reminds us that while he likes to help people out, but if he were to take a much darker path, he could literally become his own worst enemy. 💜
