The World Cosplay Summit has been taking place in Japan since yesterday.
My home is very close to the summit venue, and nearby hotels are used as changing rooms, so I often see cosplayers in my neighborhood. Many of the cosplays are of very high quality, making them a treat to see, and I also notice an increase in participants from overseas. The low value of the Japanese yen might be making it easier for them to visit.
It might just be my preference, but I feel like there are a lot of Chun-Li cosplayers this year. Could the excitement around fighting games be having an influence?
As always, Sailor Moon and Frieren are also popular choices, with a strong presence. It seems like titles that are easy for groups to cosplay with a sense of unity are very common.
It’s extremely hot, so make sure to stay well-prepared against heatstroke!😵💫
I hope that one day people will cosplay as characters from our manga!
