Food Wars: Fishing System #256+257: Supernova Explosion, a Rapid Power-Up

Yuuki decided he would wipe out one of the two swarms and capture the other. He had absolutely no desire to eat those cockroach-like creatures—he wasn't one of the Gourmet Corp psychos who’d eat anything that moved.

Maybe if they were centipedes, he could stomach it. But roaches? Never. Not even something that just looked like a roach.

With his decision made, Yuuki headed straight for the cockroach swarm's territory. His plan was simple: get to the center, drop a Supernova Explosion, and send the entire bug colony on a one-way trip to oblivion.

The blast would be immense, but it wouldn't harm the Godly Ingredient. Besides, the surrounding planets had already been completely overrun by the roaches. There was no reason to hold back.

Thanks to his speed and cloaking abilities, the roaches never even sensed his presence. Yuuki slipped through their ranks and arrived at the heart of their nest.

A colossal hive had been constructed around the Godly Ingredient. Yuuki’s job was to blow the entire thing to kingdom come.

At the core of the nest was the swarm's Queen. She was several times larger than the Cosmos Mammoth King Yuuki had encountered before, and with every passing second, as she constantly fed, she laid a terrifying number of eggs.

It was just as you’d expect from an insectoid race. They weren't the Zerg, but anything related to bugs seemed to have an absurdly fast reproductive cycle.

The whole process was, frankly, disgusting. It was a good thing Yuuki was used to seeing all sorts of nauseating things, otherwise, he might have just thrown up.

Without another thought, Yuuki revealed himself, a sphere of light already coalescing in his hand. He didn't bother staying hidden; once he used this technique, his presence would be exposed anyway.

But for Yuuki, it didn't matter. He could now cast this spell instantly.

The moment he appeared, the cockroach swarm's fate was sealed.

The instant the Queen spotted Yuuki and the terrifying energy pulsing from the sphere in his hand, she let out a massive shriek. But it was too late. Whatever she had planned was doomed to fail.

“You’re the first creature to ever taste this attack. Goodbye!”

Yuuki said with a grin. The Supernova exploded, and a wave of energy tore through half the galaxy. The shockwave even startled the nearby Octopus species.

In the vast emptiness of space, a sudden, violent energy burst like this was terrifying, especially when it came with absolutely no warning.

Cosmic events, if they occurred naturally, always had some kind of prelude. But this—this was just instant annihilation.

The Octopus species watched in horror. The cockroach swarm had been a massive pain for them. The two species were neighbors, and rivals.

They despised the insects. The roaches were weak, but their numbers were endless. You could never kill them all.

And the stronger bugs never even showed themselves, just sending out endless waves of cannon fodder to harass them.

But now—a blast this powerful meant the cockroach swarm was finished. The Octopus species should have been overjoyed.

But beyond the joy, there was a deeper fear. The roaches were gone, wiped out by some other lifeform.

Their own strength was roughly on par with the cockroaches'—that's why they were neighbors in the first place. If they had been stronger, they would have wiped out those disgusting things themselves long ago.

If this newcomer could so easily annihilate the roaches, what did that mean for them? The thought sent a wave of panic through the entire Octopus species.

——————

Yuuki had no idea what kind of impact his attack had on the octopuses, not that he would have cared. He was going after them next, after all.

Of course, he only planned on capturing one or two. He didn't need any more. These ingredients were mainly for tasting and for sharing with others.

As for himself, he had better things to eat—Godly Ingredients.

Once the energy from the Supernova Explosion finally dissipated, everything in the surrounding area was gone. Only empty space remained.

The nest, the bugs, the planets—all of it had been wiped out. The power of the blast was simply too immense.

It was Don Slime's technique, and it was perfect for taking out the trash. In the original story, Don Slime had been handicapped by his host, and the Supernova he unleashed couldn't even kill Acacia.

Seeing that everything was gone, Yuuki collected the Godly Ingredient before him. This was the key to his rapid power-up.

He never thought he’d find two Godly Ingredients so soon after entering the Green Universe. Even if they were just fragments, it was more than enough.

He didn't have the ability to capture a complete Godly Ingredient yet. That required a trip to a place called the "Farthest Lands"—a place far beyond his current reach. That was the hunting ground of the Gourmet Gods.

The ingredients in his hands were likely leftovers from their hunts. Judging by their size, they could only be scraps.

With the ingredient secured, Yuuki didn't stop to eat. He headed directly for the other species's territory.

There was another fragment of a Godly Ingredient there—and those octopuses.

<><><><><><><><>

Yuuki had already scanned them. They were called Starry Octopuses, with an average capture level in the tens of millions. Their leader was, of course, even stronger.

In the Blue Universe, a species like this would have been an overlord. But in the Green Universe, they were just local tyrants in some backwater corner of space.

Yuuki wasn't worried about their capture level. Supported by the Godly Ingredients, his own power had already reached an absurd level.

These Starry Octopuses were no match for him, just like the roaches before them.

Arriving at the core of their territory, Yuuki snatched the Godly Ingredient. The moment it vanished, the leader of the Starry Octopuses sensed it and rushed towards its location.

The Starry Octopus species, just like the roaches, had settled here because they had sensed the Godly Ingredient's presence. They had been waiting for the day they could finally claim it.

But now, the aura was gone. It meant the ingredient was gone. Their entire species couldn't even touch this ingredient; they could only vaguely sense it.

It desperately wanted to know what had happened, why the ingredient's presence had vanished.

When it arrived, it found a minuscule creature at the ingredient's location. The creature was tiny, but the octopus leader didn't dare to underestimate it.

The being wasn't concealing its aura, and from the presence it gave off, this tiny creature was even stronger than itself.

Seeing this, the octopus leader immediately chose to flee. A long life had taught it one thing: if this being were just a thief, it would have taken the ingredient and run.

If it were a powerhouse, it wouldn't have lingered after getting what it wanted. But this being, stronger than itself, was just waiting here, its aura on full display.

It could only mean one thing: it wanted to fight. Realizing this, the octopus leader didn't hesitate and bolted. It had to be said, living a long time really gave you a lot of experience.

And it was decisive, making a choice the very instant it saw Yuuki.

“Smart choice. But I’m not letting you run!”

Yuuki watched with some amusement. The creature was smart, but since he was here, it wasn't getting away.

And in Yuuki's view, it wasn't smart enough. If he were in its place, he wouldn't have even come close.

The reason was simple. The octopus didn't know what a Godly Ingredient was, but it knew that neither its species nor the roaches could handle it.

For someone to be able to take it away meant they were on a completely different level. In that situation, the first thing you should do isn't to investigate—it's to run.

It just went to show that even intelligent life was easily ruled by emotion. In moments like these, their decisions often deviated from logic, leading to situations like this.

Yuuki instantly appeared in the octopus's escape path. With a single strike, he extinguished its life force. It died instantly, without a shred of pain.

Of course, there was a flicker of fear before the end, but Yuuki was here to capture an ingredient. He wouldn't let it go. As for the other octopuses, he left them alone.

One octopus of this size was more than enough. For the Starry Octopus species, trading their leader for the complete annihilation of their rival species wasn't a bad deal.

With that taken care of, Yuuki left. He still had to prepare the Godly Ingredients, and he planned to eat them first.

Once he did, his power would increase significantly. He had never been an arrogant person. He would constantly improve his strength and never let it go to his head.

In this world, there was always someone stronger. From his days in the Human World, Yuuki had always warned himself never to get complacent. Overly arrogant people rarely met a good end.

These two Godly Ingredients were completely different from the ones he had obtained before, so he needed time to figure out how to prepare them.

Luckily, he had his mobile kitchen to help, otherwise, it would have taken a massive amount of time.

Preparing the two fragments wasn't too difficult. Yuuki also discovered that Godly Ingredients weren't all the same. Their preparation difficulty could vary. Perhaps in the future, he would find ones that were even harder to cook.

But higher difficulty also meant better taste, so he was actually looking forward to it.

Once the preparation methods were figured out, Yuuki quickly cooked and ate the ingredients.

His power naturally grew even stronger.

And he also had the Starry Octopus meat. It had to be said, coming to the Green Universe was the right choice. It truly was a treasure trove of ingredients.

After digesting the two ingredients, his power increased further, and his perception range expanded.

Of course, Yuuki wouldn't just recklessly scan everything. What if his senses were detected? What if there was someone in this universe even stronger than him?

Even if the Green Universe couldn't compare to the Black and White ones, he still had to be prepared.

So, when he arrived in a new area, he would only scan once and be done with it.

Perhaps his luck had run out at the beginning, because after searching thousands of galaxies, he didn't find any more Godly Ingredients.

He was getting numb to it, but there was nothing he could do. Food Luck didn't extend to Godly Ingredients, so he could only rely on himself to find them.

Although he didn't find many Godly Ingredients, he did harvest a lot of other things in the Green Universe. He also discovered the Green Nitros. Just like the Blue Universe had Blue Nitros and the Red Universe had Red Nitros.

The Green Universe had its own. But the Green Nitros were different from the Blue ones.

The ones here were very powerful, but they weren't arrogant. On the contrary, they were quite easy to get along with.

After realizing this, Yuuki made contact with them.

There were no humans in the Green Universe. As for the Green Nitros' strength, he wasn't worried at all.

The Nitro race wasn't particularly strong; they were just a very unique species.

Yuuki communicated with the Green Nitros and told them about the situation with their Red and Blue counterparts.

When they first heard about the Blue Nitros, the Green Nitros were furious. They were a peaceful race, focused on their own development.

The Blue Nitros were the complete opposite, preferring invasion and slavery. They were the very definition of tyranny, so naturally, the Green Nitros were disgusted by their so-called kin.
