as i was working today my mind kept going to the idea of back ground and non-smut characters i need to make so i can have my projects be more visually interesting. i have gigabytes of props and costumes that are not rigged from all over the place.
now rigid shapes like armor plates are easy because i just have to do a straight parenting to a bone. however, clothing and anything that needs to deform while bending is more difficult. blender does not have the best auto weight painting tools in my opinion.
i did an experiment with Daz by first altering the shape of the costume i wanted to use, to fit one of the daz base models. Then i used the "transfer" utility to make the costume "conforming closing" in daz.
this worked just how i wanted it to.
so now i can use all those costume i collected that are not already daz ready and put them on my character to make them more visually interesting
