Hi everyone! Benjamin (new programmer) here. I’ve been hard at work adding soft-body physics in our toolbox. We are using NVIDIA FleX to drive the simulation. As of right now, the soft-body simulated parts move with the animations and react to physical contact in an unscripted way. This will push the physical fidelity of our games much farther.

Skin and tissue behaviour with NVIDIA FleX
Another thing I have been working on is integrating an improved animation skinning system in Unity. This skinning method, called Dual Quaternion Skinning, creates bulges in the joints where the default skinning method does not. This preserves the volume of the character’s joints and prevents their limbs from shrinking when they bend. This is most notable on the butt of the characters when they squat:

I’m excited to continue improving the tech of our games and sharing this with you!
