Your opinion needed! (expires 30.7.2019)
Added 2019-07-22 18:49:01 +0000 UTCI'm working with the Auditorium and one event there is a public stroking. This event runs 4 different paths resulting different outcomes. Which one you prefer:
1. When you are asked to stroke, should you stroke with the controller OR
2. I'll make this automated, so you have a "hands free" mode.
Stroking with a controller will remove your possibility to do it in real life...
At this point I can't create both due the time it takes. I might add this kind of option later on if it's compatible with all scenes.

2019-07-23 10:08:32 +0000 UTCAutomated. There is a third way but i don't expect you to program it: The tracking of the headset because the shoulders are close to the head. Even simulating it should work. But it will always be only an approximation to the actual movements.

2019-07-23 01:22:21 +0000 UTCAutomated would be the way to go right now. Most, I would imagine, would want to be able to physically connect with what is going on in VR. Interaction is nice with the controllers, but only if it doesn't take away from the fantasy in which you are trying provide. In short, fumbling with a controller would take away from the realism.

2019-07-23 00:56:47 +0000 UTCSince I don't have VR yet, the handsfree would be ideal.

2019-07-22 19:56:12 +0000 UTCi dont see why we cant have both. at the start of the scene there could be a simple choice between the two or even a toggle in the options that lock the choice for motion controls. like in the original FD before launching the scenes you would choose to launch it in 3 different modes. i forget the specific names but it was like immersive, spectator and dev.
2019-07-22 19:26:29 +0000 UTCThe vo script for that is relatively complex: you are asked to stroke, stop, go fast, stroke with twists, go slow etc. It's edging with one path. This is why I realized if you use controller, there is no way to use free hand in real life same time...

2019-07-22 19:17:48 +0000 UTCI vote for automated. Having both options would be nice, but I can wait. Having a hand free is ideal to me anyways 😉

2019-07-22 19:17:32 +0000 UTCCould you set it up so it's like the "automated" setup but the speed is controlled by a controller in the other hand?

2019-07-22 19:12:54 +0000 UTCFor my. I think stroke with controller. So that i can later hack my controller to olso use it whith the fleshlight hack. If in option 2 i don't know how to do that. Or autostroke with usb controllr API thing :-)

2019-07-22 19:08:52 +0000 UTCI don't think you need to do any complex technical stuff to have both. The player can be instructed to use two hands to stroke. One hold the controller and the other is actually making contact. But if it's still not possible, I would prefer using just the controller with some type of feedback for more immersion over actually stroking.
