Umi can't use magic herself, but she doesn't need to, as she's only helping Yae set up the magical video call, which she can't manage. When Umi has set everything up, they call Yae's friend Ei, who has been waiting for the magical video call. The three of them are having a nice conversation when suddenly the magical video call is interrupted and the connection to Ei is "lost". In truth, the connection still exists, only Ei is frozen motionless in the exact pose in which the connection was "lost". The same applies to Umi and Yae, although Umi was still trying to reach the laptop. Everything that is shown on the screen cannot be moved, so the three girls are still able to move their legs.
