Yeah but for now it really doesn’t affect anything. A lot of the episodes coming up are generally self contained. If he wants to do doubles I think starting either 17-18 or 19-20. Until then it really doesn’t matter. I’d much rather have 1.5 hours with a good discussion about 1 episode than and hour and 45 min to 2 hours for two episodes

2024-06-01 09:16:37 +0000 UTCI like both the single and double episodes! It's great having two, but it also feels paced better at 1/week and lasts longer that way too. It's how I watched it originally, after I quickly caught up when I jumped in while the series was still airing, but I'm definitely not against doubles when they come. Fun to bring up the comparison to Sword in the Stone, magic duels that are intellectual are great, and they had a neat way to animate each polymorph's attacks and counter the others like you say. And it's just crazy to me I can't come up with a better / more recent contender for wizard battle than 1991. Lord of the Rings comes to mind and fails completely, Harry Potter as well, Wheel of Time, all these series with wizards and their wizard battles all suck. How can anime with all their isekai crap not be totally flooded for wizard battles? So strange. Maybe the total lack of well-done traditionalist magic fights in anime is one thing I never realized which I love so much about Frieren that other shows don't really have.
