Those so-called "predictions" have been going on since the 1970s, and proponents always keep saying the world will be uninhabitable in 10 years. Then 10 years later, they move the doomsday date another 10 or even 20 years. Bad for science, but good for politicians. Imagine how much money-grabbing schemes you can come up with when you say your ideas and policies will keep the world from ending in 10 years.
