It bums me out to think that the events of Witcher 3 are probably not going to be included in the TV series. If it were up to my preference, I'd even make the ending of the "Blood And Wine" DLC the ending of the show, even though that is explicitly even less canon to the books than the video game itself.

2021-04-30 16:02:08 +0000 UTCso to explain the law of suprise maybe some more - people as a payment/reward can claim the first thing that comes to greet the person returning the favor (that they dont have yet or dont know they have) - so in this epiosde geralt accidentally claims pavetta's child (ciri). As they say in the episode the claim could end up being crops, some land, a puppy, anything really but with that perfect timing and pavetta throwing up, it was clear her pregnancy/ciri was the suprise which happens a fair bit when people use the law of suprise haha. But not really like a blood connection, as we see the knight also used the law of suprise and claimed pavetta but later, unintentionally, met and fell in love with her as he says

2021-04-27 22:20:55 +0000 UTC•Lord Urcheon was cursed before he met Pavetta (Ciri’s mom) •Urcheon saved Queen Calanthe’s first husband from certain death & he chose the law of surprise as his reward •that law of surprise came in the form of a child (Pavetta) & when Urcheon heard of the her existence he didn’t want to come because of the way he looks but they ended up meeting anyway & falling in love •Geralt chosing law of surprise didn’t create the child but when Pavetta vomited Geralt & everyone knew she was pregnant & since it was a surprise that means the child is Geralts destiny now that’s why Geralt said f*** Well that’s what I got from it, hope it helps
