He doesn't care about anything but making money, he knew very well the separatists were behind the kidnapping. You already saw him on another episode, he's the senator that poisoned Padme when she was on that mission to spy on her ex.

He is briefly seen outside the room at the Opera House where Anakin goes to talk with the Chancellor (the "Did you hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise" scene) And yup, that's the Greedo that Han Solo shoots!
