Indiana Jones 1 | FULL AKIMA Reactions

Hi everyone and SURPRISE! This almost WON a few POLLS, so we decided to go ahead and watch this! Mom has been without power since Thursday... so we are hoping to react more once her power is restored! Luckily, we did get a head start with our TV reactions last week since we try to prepare before a storm hits.... Mom's neighborhood is unfortunately always last to get power back.. maybe cause they are in the mountains? Anywho, we are well and were able to watch this before the power outage! We also watched Men in Black 2, so expect that next! Saving Private Ryan hopefully next weekend! If Mom still doesn't have power.. I'll be shocked!

You can find this video in our Google Drive. Our LINKS are located right on this same page. Look for "LINK- MOVIE Reactions" or "LINK- ALL FULL Reactions" (depending on what tier you donated too). These LINKS can appear sometimes at the top of our POSTS page or the bottom, depending on when they were updated. Please feel free to message me directly if you have any issues :)

Thanks so much for your support! You keep us creating and we can't thank you enough! Please enjoy! xoxo

Im not sure if you know this but the actor playing Sallah is John Rhys Davies and hes the actor that played Gimli in LOTR

Caleb Harvey

its funny, when i was a child, i was sure that Temple of Doom was the first movie and Raiders was the sequel. To my childs mind, Raiders was so much better than Doom that i just assumed Doom was their first crack at Indiana Jones and Raiders must be the more recent and improved Indiana Jones film.

CiviliNation

Thanks for reading, Storm (and Christopher). Glad I could help. ... And personal confession: Even though I objectively recognize that Raiders is the better movie, I've watched Temple of Doom way more. As over-the-top as it is, I find it pretty entertaining.

Thanks for your input! We really enjoyed this one, so I think we will the others too! I find it so interesting there are so many different opinions about movies and shows we watch. We really have a well rounded group here! Very cool!

Thank you for your insight! This is so in detail and much appreciated! I know Mom, Kim and I can handle it! Never seeing Indiana Jones before.. I had a completely different idea of what it was about... I knew adventure.. but I was thinking light hearted, find the treasure, save the girl... treasure has some mysteries left unknown... which is what happened... but just so different from what I imagined. LOL. Definitely enjoyable though. Can't wait to see more!

Storm Akima

I completely agree.

Armchair Wizard

I rank Last Crusade below Crystal Skull.

Opti_Frog

Yeah Temple of Doom is the most hardcore Indiana movie, that's a good word for it. It scared me when I was a kid.

lol im so surprised to see all the warnings and words like "horror" and "dark" and "violent" about Temple of Doom...i mean, i might have used those words when i was 12 but by now its all pretty "cartoonish" as someone has said....some "ewwww" moments, but thats about it. Dont worry Ladies, you are sure to enjoy it...but you will enjoy the next one even more. Raiders is the best but Crusade is my personal favorite

Since you invited people to give you notes about the next Indy movie, Temple of Doom: A lot of people think Doom is bad. I personally feel it’s very underrated. Not perfect, but there’s a ton of good stuff: Several of the most iconic scenes in the entire franchise are here. Harrison Ford has never been more charismatic. And I personally really like the surrogate father/son relationship. As others have alluded to, Doom is notorious for shocking parents upon its release with its violence. But I think if you approach the movie with the right attitude going in, it’ll help temper that. Try to think of Doom as an outright action horror movie – it feels like Indiana Jones is fighting against pure evil, eventually in the depths of Hell itself. This thing gets *dark*. It takes a while for the plot to truly kick in, but when it does, the pacing is unrelenting. This makes the movie either pure excitement, or tiresome, depending on your viewpoint. While more horrific in tone than Raiders, Doom is also a lot more cartoonish. I personally like this, but it’s definitely a departure. Doom is a prequel to Raiders. Even though it was made afterwards, it takes place in 1935, whereas Raiders was set in 1936. Probably in an effort to contrast from Karen Allen’s “Marion” in Raiders, the female lead in Doom is an over-the-top pampered princess who screams a lot. I can appreciate what they were trying to do, but it’s probably the weakest aspect of the movie. I think it would’ve helped if her character had been either been funnier, or evolved more in response to the events of the plot - but they don’t quite go far enough in either direction to turn her into a strength.

Not only is it interesting trivia, but might be something they should consider in anticipation of watching it. (I think it helps to enjoy things more if you have at least some expectations of what you're seeing.) As an aside, I always thought that the level of gore in both Doom and Raiders could've even justified R ratings. So it's always struck me as odd that Doom was one of the reasons for the creation of a PG-13 rating. If you compare it to PG-13 movies that came later, like the much more family-friendly Pirates of the Caribbean, Doom is still way more hardcore.

I haven't seen the fourth one since theaters, was disappointed with it then but I'll gladly watch it again with you guys once you get to it.

Daniel R

You guys should also watch the bodyguard 1992 it’s a great movie

i think people sleep on the 3rd movie i think its my fav

Love this movie. Spielberg in his prime. A lot of later films tried to imitate its tone without succeeding. Yes of course the beautiful score was by John Williams. You completely missed the reveal about why the nazis and Belloch were digging in the wrong place. They replicated the medallion from the sinister guy who burned his hand trying to pick it up from the fire. They didn’t have the inscription on the other side of the medallion.

Raiders is about as close as it is possible to come to a perfect movie. By far the best Indiana Jones film. The others all have varying degrees of problems, but i can watch Raiders 100 times and not get tired of it.

Opti_Frog

I cant like this comment enough : )

Shyam Nair

What a Great surprise!!!! Just got off work and I get to kick back and watch this classic with gals.

Thomas Massie

The PG-13 rating was invented because people thought that Indiana Jones: The Temple of Doom was too violent for a PG rating but not violent enough for an R rating. So they came up with PG-13, a medium rating for somewhat mature movies. Just a bit of pointless trivia. Indiana Jones helped make the PG-13 rating.

A Beautiful Mind , Castaway , Apollo 13 , A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood , Sicario , Gravity , Crimson Tide , Rush , La La Land , Silver Linings Playbook , There Will Be Blood , Jaws , Michael Clayton , Crazy Heart ,Birdman , Whiplash , Up , Wall-E , The King's Speech , The Fighter and Dunkirk are some excellent titles to react to.

jonathan Edge

I can't wait for the Last Crusade. That is my favorite. Please tell me you will do the trilogy and not rely on the polls. By the way I don't count Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, so you can watch it or not but I may not sit through it again. haha

King Henry Beauclerc

Fair Warning: Before you all watch Temple Of Doom, it is the most dark and violent and has a lot of gross out moments. Just thought I'd point that out to take into account for your mom's sake.

Philthemovieguy

I know, it’s sad that they haven’t finished off the current DCEU movies with the same dedication they gave to Marvel.

Sohail Jafar

if there is one thing im a bit disappointed by on this channel is the lack of love for DC movies, i cant understand how there still no aquaman or shazam or birds of prey here

CiviliNation

Keep requesting! We’ll get them soon, I hope!😄

Evander

Cant wait to watch this one! *Hums the Indiana Jones theme song at work*
