Comments
Most of these comment looking for the reactions are old but in case you're not finding it, here are instructions as clear as I can make them: First, click back from this post onto the main page of Storm Akima's patreon. Under posts there are different categories in squares, click on the square that simply says "link". Now you should see a few different posts, click read more on the one titled "LINK- MOVIE FULL Reactions" and open one of the links listed there. You will be re-directed onto a page of google folders and that is where the LOTR reactions are, they have their own folder.

2018-06-28 08:16:37 +0000 UTCHi Jiri!! Sorry for the late reply! I try my best to read everyone's comments and reply! You can find our links on our MAIN page through our Posts under LINK... whichever tier you donate to, that LINK post will unlock and you will have access to our library of reactions! Those POSTS will always be close to the top because I update our links every so many days to avoid many from stealing our links. Thanks so much for being here! If you need further assistance, please feel free to message me directly. I receive direct messages right away and will respond when I'm not at work (I try within a day)... I love comments here, but sometimes comments get lost until I filter through everyone's comments. Thanks so much and sorry again for the wait! :)

2018-05-22 08:32:05 +0000 UTCI was just saying I didn't know how you managed to keep your videos so quiet. Now I get that you're actually doing earbuds, never considered that. Oh, and as for the syncing it isn't a problem, though in some parts a little. Like this part, the first of Fellowship starts out rather dark throughout the intro so I kinda had to wait until we got to the Shire to see the little screen. It could definitely have just been my eyes. Oh and your initial syncing technique of showing a little bit of clear video is good, but I had an idea of maybe doing that one or two more times later on into the film. Like showing the screen very clearly for people to see in case they managed to desync and wanted a point to get re-caught-up with. But it's fine overall. Just an idea.

2018-05-22 04:41:51 +0000 UTCHi Namey! Thanks for your pledge! I do apologize since I don't understand your comment fully... happy you were able to stay in sync with us! I've been hearing that the DVD and Bluray extended versions start and end at different parts of the story. I try to make it easy with the visual in the 'static' box. We are very quiet sometimes, lol! We are also wearing ear buds for the audio so we don't get in trouble with copyright. The visuals we provide are very distorted and there only to help us stay in sync. Thanks again! :D
Storm Akima
2018-05-21 20:54:14 +0000 UTCI'm shocked at how quiet you manage to make the background. Luckily I can skim through my own.....copy of the film to find the right spot. :P

2018-05-01 07:43:24 +0000 UTCYep, Tolkien's personal experience had a huge influence on his work. Like many postwar authors, Tolkien witnessed many of the horrors and atrocities of WW1 and WW2. Not just as a distant observer of the war, but as someone who himself fought in and survived the deadliest battle in all of British history. It's no wonder that when he wrote the Lord of the Rings, he made the hero someone who is both bad at fighting and a pacifist at heart. Tolkien came to detest the moral compromises and atrocities committed by both sides of the War, and it's this attitude that gives his story such weight. Unlike a lot of fantasy authors, Tolkien doesn't just focus on the "cool" and "dramatic" aspect of war, but also mixes it with his own emotional understanding of how futile and hopeless war can seem to those suffering under it.

2018-04-30 17:37:26 +0000 UTCLove love looove that you're doing this! I think it was a good idea to do the EE and split them in two parts. I actually did the same last summer with a friend and that way we had 6 great movie nights :) 6 is better than 3! I also had to pledge just to see these, although I might have to lower the pledge to $1 after you've watched LOTR due to money problems, I hope you understand :) Really excited to see Mom and Kim's reactions to this epic saga (my all time favorite) and hear their thoughts!!

2018-04-30 13:10:07 +0000 UTCHi Tad!! I was kind of on the fence about that too in the beginning... but I think the extended way is pretty cool for them.. it's a lot of detail to take in for sure... but now that we are splitting up the movies into 2 parts... they are more focused... I think with training from watching Game of Thrones (even though LotR came out before this, lol).. they've had some training in complicated fantasy details XD Kim even told me she likes slowly absorbing the histories to better understand their world... which I though was pretty cool! :D Thanks again for you donation and I'm so happy you are enjoying our content! :)
Storm Akima
2018-04-30 13:07:22 +0000 UTCYay! Hi Jihad! Thanks so much for being here and your pledge! I just sent you a message! :D

2018-04-30 13:04:11 +0000 UTCHi Soisen! Thanks so much for your pledge! In the tier description there is a quick explanation that I have to manually send you a link and I need a 24 hour window to send it since I need to do that from my computer and I work a lot. I can't do a separate link on our page yet until a few features change on our Patreon. Thanks for your patience! I just sent you a message and will send a link once I have a gmail :) Once we grow a bit more, I hope Patreon will give us that option like how BlindWave does theirs. That would make things way easier! Thanks again!
Storm Akima
2018-04-30 13:02:34 +0000 UTCIdk about having them watch the extended editions on their first go. I mean the pacing is going to be messed up because it’s more about details than telling a streamlined story. I feel like the EE should only be if you’re really into it already.

2018-04-30 02:47:40 +0000 UTCI am really happy you guys are watching the extended versions. There are so many little moments and details that really help to explain and develop parts of the story and characters. Aragorn in particular gets way more development in the extended versions, which i think is great. For example there is a great scene in the second film where Aragorn and Eowyn talk about how old Aragorn is, which is only in the extended version I think.
Drew
2018-04-29 18:59:06 +0000 UTCYour version seems to be slightly slower than mine. Every 10 seconds or so, I had to pause my version to keep it in sync. Again, it’s not a huge issue so don’t worry about it too much!!

2018-04-29 17:31:10 +0000 UTCI admire your poker face, I really do! Usually, I have to try really hard to keep possible spoilers to myself when I'm watching movies and tv-series with my mum. So you are doing such a great job :D I'm really happy that you mom is excited to watch more LoTR - that's always a good sign. Can't wait to see your reaction to the second part, but I understand that life happens. About the syncing thing. Don't worry about it too much. If it can't be fixed, it's okay too. I'm having a blast with you guys anyways.
kati
2018-04-29 16:56:47 +0000 UTCGreat reaction! I am thrilled that you are doing the extended versions, they add so much and Fellowship is the shortest with 30 minutes of extra footage and Return of the King with 50 minutes of extra footage. Definitely a marathon but at least it an enjoyable one. Also other commenters mentioned that they had trouble staying synced, but I just wanted you to know that I had no problem with it. It may have been internet issues or something, but just letting you know it was fine for me. *Also I have the Extended Edition DVDs. So Part 1 seems to be the same as the blu ray version, so hopefully that won't be an issue.

2018-04-29 16:21:35 +0000 UTCYay Huell! You're welcome and thank you for watching!! :D
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 15:08:51 +0000 UTCThanks for your explanations, Huell! I love it! I will be sure to discuss this with Mom and Kim next video! Kim was so blown away with all the knowledge and back history of the characters from Harry Potter... she found that so intriguing... and I believe she is more open to fantasy characters now because of all the realistic 'facts' that make them even more believable! This is just so much fun! I can't wait to watch Part 2 with them!! XD

2018-04-29 15:08:21 +0000 UTCHi Myisha box! I will resend another link to you! I haven't heard of this issue before... were there a couple links in the email you were sent? 2018-04-29 14:54:08 +0000 UTCHi jayjay!! Oh no!! LOL!! Sorry to hear that! Actually, after each extended movie, I plan on making a theatrical version as well if that makes it easier! I want everyone to be able to view! XD

2018-04-29 14:52:18 +0000 UTCHi Drew!! I'm so excited you are excited! That means a lot to us and keeps me editing! Thanks for your kind words! Mom and Kim are such great reactors!! I love how pure they are with no previous history with movies and shows (besides what we've seen on this channel)... they really heighten the experience so much more! ... they have no idea what's coming!! :D
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 14:50:18 +0000 UTCHi Drew!! I always love your comments too! I'm very happy you are excited as well!! Yay! That would be the best choice to watch the second part next.. but I'll be honest with you (like I always am with our channel, LOL)... we watched The Lion King the other day... in between this... sorry! TLK was a shorter film and Mom and Kim agreed shorter was better that night... then I ended up working a lot the last few days so we haven't had time to get together... I will keep this in mind next time though! You are right! During the next movie though, I'll make sure to refresh them about the first part of LotR! Thanks for being a great fan!! :D
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 14:47:57 +0000 UTCHi kati! I love your comments! I'm so excited for the second part too! I will never spoil anything for Mom and Kim and I'm lucky that don't pry for spoilers much... but sometimes during the review, it's hard not to say something like, "Oh, just you wait..." LOL!! I so can't for the second part!! I was hoping to watch it by this weekend, but I ended up working a lot at my full time job... so we're going to try to get together early this week to watch Part 2... I am happy we decided to do 2 parts now! Just because we can review more and stay more focused. Mom is actually excited to watch more too which I thought was pretty cool! Thanks also for the sync details! I really do appreciate helpful input like this! I always want to learn and do better for all of us! I'll try different things as we go from here to see if that makes things easier for syncing.... I'm kind of curious if it wasn't just the bluray.. but maybe because we watched on my PS4 instead... I've never used the bluray feature on that before... hmm... anywho, so excited for the next installment!! I'm so happy you enjoyed it as well!! :)
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 14:44:23 +0000 UTCHi Scott!! So happy you enjoyed our reactions!! LOL!! Sorry it was out of sync! I always want to make our videos fun and easy to view so I'll try a few things differently to see if that helps with syncing... like using different bluray players and rendering videos at different rates to see what happens. I do appreciate feed back like this! I always want to do better! I'm happy you still enjoyed our reactions! Thanks for being a fan!! XD
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 14:36:49 +0000 UTCHi Jack! I'm so happy you are enjoying our reactions! Sorry to hear that it's not staying in sync! I'm relieved it's not a big deal.. thanks for that! This is the first time we are watching blu ray for a full reaction... we're also watching blu rays on my PS4... so I wonder if the frame rate is just slightly different... we may watch the second part at my Mom's in a couple days so I'm curious if we'll be more in sync with her bluray/dvd player... hmm... does my version run faster than yours? Or does yours run faster than mine? I don't mind making multiple versions if I need too :) It'll just take time to render, but that's ok! No extra editing on my part which is nice :D ... I'm so curious how Mom and Kim are going to do with Part 2 as well!!! XD
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 14:30:08 +0000 UTCThat is so cool, Jan! It's been so long since I've seen this as well...so many years! I'm so excited for the second part! It was hard not to keep watching! :D
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 14:25:33 +0000 UTCOh wow! Thank you for sharing this! I don't know much about Tolkien besides this epic story of his... but it makes perfect sense that he mixed in his own personal experience into LotR... I can't imagine going through all that... so horrible sad to say the least... Tolkien is such an amazing writer... you can feel the love and dedication in his work :) It's wonderful to see as much love and effort put into the movies! I always enjoy the costumes/outfits/armor and props, sets and locations... I find that so enjoyable... especially when they take a step further with adding even more visual enhancing special effects to those details in every scene! All of that really pulls this epic tale into a beautiful story book visually.. I always geek out about that. That makes a huge difference when there's a lot of effort put into every detail. I love it! That's why I also wanted to watch this with Mom and Kim on blu ray... usually I do DVD or buy digital... but blu ray is definitely the best experience (besides theater that is) :) Thanks so much for your nice comment and those extra details! I will relay this to Mom and Kim! So happy you enjoyed our reactions! I can't wait to watch the next Part!! :)
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 13:48:42 +0000 UTCsame for me!! I had the dvd version playing alongside it, and had to pause every minute because the reaction video was a tiny bit slower.

2018-04-29 13:42:19 +0000 UTCThat is crazy! I can't believe that either! Time really does fly! We can almost call this a classic... :D
Storm Akima
2018-04-29 13:40:05 +0000 UTCI played my dvd along with your reaction, and it was slightly off in speed. I think your recording was a tiny bit slower than my dvd. Which was quite anoying because I would have to stop my dvd every minute just to make the other screen catch up again. Do you know if your recording software slows the film down a little bit? I don't know how to fix it...
Pascale van Gils
2018-04-29 13:38:35 +0000 UTCI can't believe this movie is 18 years old. The aging is incredible.

2018-04-29 05:48:20 +0000 UTCLooking forward to the rest of this. It's great that you guys noticed and commented on how beautiful the world is. The filmmakers spent huge amounts of resources on environments and atmosphere. Many of the locations and structures constructed are still standing today, and the filmmakers created equipment and clothing for all the actors and extras including literally tens of thousands of pieces of armor and weapons. It really helps balance an aspect of realism with the fantastical elements of the story. The Lord of the Rings has a pretty special place in history too. It's generally considered to be the father of all high-fantasy, and it was influenced by some of the darkest moments of the 20th century. 21 years before Tolkien started writing the book, he fought in the Battle of the Somme during World War 1. By 1918, all but one of his closest friends had died in the war, and the events of those days left an unmistakable influence on his work. He later said of himself that he was "a young man with too much imagination and little physical courage". Little wonder that he was able to create such a unique piece of fiction.

2018-04-28 17:55:13 +0000 UTCIt's been quite a few years since i watched LOTR at all, and even longer since i watched the extended version. Damn, it just grabs you and sucks you right in. This will mean nothing to 99% of those reading this comment, but i had forgotten that Lionel's mum, Vera Cosgrove, had a cameo as a hobbit in the extended version. I did a little squee.

2018-04-28 12:12:13 +0000 UTCI’m also watching along on the DVD version and I have noticed that my version seems to fall out of sync. But it’s honestly no big deal, I just have to briefly pause every 10-15 seconds to keep it in sync. Loving the reactions so far! I agree, I love the scenery and the world-building in this trilogy, no other movie can dedicate 20 minutes just to the backstory and describing the world and still have it be so good. Part 2 is where things start to ramp up so that will be interesting to see!

2018-04-28 09:50:28 +0000 UTCI also loved your reaction to this and can't wait for part 2. I agree with Kati above that I had to keep synching the movie to get the reactions right. No biggie, but I also have the regular extended dvd and not the blu-ray. Like I said no big deal. Still enjoyed and will patiently wait for part 2. :)

2018-04-27 19:11:11 +0000 UTCTried, only ad bait sites. And those who are not, don't actually have the extended version, only theatrical.

2018-04-27 18:58:20 +0000 UTCThank you for this! I loved watching your reaction as always. I have one question though: do you have your extended version on blu-ray? I ask because I have the regular, dvd version (extended), and I've had difficulties with syncing it up. Every time a scene played, after a minute, I had to pause it for a few seconds, because it came a little faster on my end then it came on yours. But back to the topic of LoTR. I had to smile when Kim said that the suspense was a little predictable, and I thought to myself "oh boy, wait to the second movie, especially to the Battle of Helm's Deep". I remember watching it in the theater and almost jumping on my seat. But even the second part of the Fellowship is pretty intense. Just you wait, Kim, just you wait :D

2018-04-27 18:21:14 +0000 UTCIt's extremely easy to find online. Just type in LOTR Extended edition free online and you should be good.

2018-04-27 18:16:56 +0000 UTCWhen can we expect the second part? I am very excited. I hope you don't watch anything in between the two parts of this film. I think it would break things up too much. If it were me I would watch Lion King in between Fellowship and Two Towers instead.

2018-04-27 18:00:03 +0000 UTCI am so damn hyped for this. This is my favorite series of films ever made and I have never been able to see someone else experience them for the first time.

2018-04-27 15:48:47 +0000 UTCYeah exactly, they are immortal in the sense that they don't age but they can still be killed.
Drew
2018-04-27 15:47:49 +0000 UTCIt is easily the best trilogy of all time and in my opinion it is the best series of fantasy films ever created.

2018-04-27 15:42:57 +0000 UTCWhen you voted for the extended version and now realize you don't have it yourself..

2018-04-27 13:03:37 +0000 UTCKim and mom's reaction to Lord Eddard Stark a.k.a. Boromir was everything I hoped for! That was so awesome!! And the elves are indeed immortal in LoTR. They are naturally immortal, and remain unwearied with age. In addition to their immortality, Elves can recover from wounds which would normally kill a mortal man. However, they are not eternal. So they can die in battle, of grief, and injury.
