True that say what you will about Gabriel, he does have some style to him. You can see the young Dean in Jack along with Sam’s influence. Just knew that Jess wasn’t going to like seeing Kevin die again. Do love how Mary sees Jack as one of her boys. Which he is. Dean had some good emotional maturity with the revenge business, and it was nice to see Jess love that. (His emotional maturity with the porn stars, not so much, and I loved Jess reacting to that part as I’m with her on that one.) I hear you on not liking Dean being dismissive as there is the thing of closure. You mention Azazel being a big one. I’d throw in when they killed Dick to avenge Bobby. And though Dean is not wrong about revenge not changing much, certain things a man does not forgive, and needs to attain revenge so as to try to end the torment. And as you say, Sam gets it, given, as you put it, he “doesn’t have the luxury of knowing his torture is over. He doesn’t have that peace of mind of closure, of putting what happened to him behind.” Until Lucifer is taken care of, he’s stuck with that. And yeah, as you say, as Dean says, revenge doesn’t fix shit, but there is the finality to it. Likewise, very well said about how much Sam’s been at it with keeping the hope alive, and how being benched is something he’ll take exception to. You get where Dean’s coming from of he can’t let Sam die before him. As the little brother, I can understand the dread Dean has about that, and thus, you feel the pressure that’s on Sam with that. Though obviously much more dramatic here, it’s an unspoken pressure on the younger siblings that no one ever much gets into. You know, just in case we think that Sammy doesn’t have enough pressure as it is. He is right about come what may, he and Dean will face this together. And as we get to the last two seasons, the ominous feelings will get worse no doubt. Then there’s what Jess talked about with the OCD. Feel kinship with Jess about it. In her shoes, I’d have the same fear as the OCD does come after you very strongly. In my case, I can’t figure out if the autism exacerbates the OCD, or the OCD exacerbates the autism, or do they feed each other in equal measure. Certainly, what Jess said, I feel her pain about it. Nice when there are the episodes that are the pick me up/distraction for that. The Scooby episode being particularly good for that. That episode is up there with the show. Still think Weekend at Bobby’s is the best one, or at least my favorite one.

Really hope you feel better soon Jess! Nothing like a good old dose of Gabriel to help with that lol. As much as I loathe how he has treated Sam in the past, I can't deny, he has style and is delightfully entertaining. This is such a well done episode. The way it weaves the lighter, more "joking" part of the story with the heart wrenching moments was very well executed. The heaviness of the Mary/Jack scenes hit so hard. You feel the weariness, the weight of fighting a war, especially with Mary. Jack is acting like a younger Dean, cocky, bravado, boundless confidence... and the first "loss" he experiences hits so much harder because of that. And with Mary, you can see the love and affection she has for the kid. Like a son. After the way she was in season 12, its refreshing to see this side of her, a more warmer, maternal side coming out and it starts to show who Mary really is, now that she's not struggling with coming back from the dead. All their scenes together were heavy, but touching and did a great job of reminding us of the stakes in Apocalypse World. Dean's emotional maturity, when it comes to revenge, was A++ this episode. He was absolutely right, and the growth of his arc from season 1 was fully on display. That being said... he was wrong to dismiss it entirely. Gabe needed to get that closure with his tormentors. Dean already has his. He killed Azazel, and Sam killed Alistair. The people who tormented Dean are dead and gone. But for Gabe, knowing they were out there... he needed to make sure that his torment was truly over. And I feel like Sam understands that. Because Sam's tormentor not only is still out there, still thriving, but has been actively involved with Sam's life consistently since torturing him for almost two centuries. Sam doesn't have the luxury of knowing his torture is over. He doesn't have that peace of mind of closure, of putting what happened to him behind. Every day that Lucifer is free, Sam has to live with that. Especially because he is now tied to Lucifer again, with Jack, because Sam will never cut himself out of Jack's life, which means always being a part of Lucifer's through him. And that connection... Jared and Richard did a fantastic job of showing that connection to each other, that unspoken understanding. Maybe revenge doesn't fix anything, but having closure absolutely does and Sam was clearly going to make sure if he couldn't have it, Gabe would. Sam has been doing that a lot this season, and it just goes to show how much inner strength Sam really has. He has had to be the rock for everybody this season. He had to raise Jack, basically on his own for the first half of the season. He had to support Dean through his grief, had to hold onto his own faith that his mother was alive. He had to be understanding and compassionate to Rowena and Gabe, not only because he needs their help, but because he understands both of them, their trauma and where they are coming from in a way nobody else does. He's the only one, really, who can speak to where they are coming from, and despite everything they did to him, Sam steps up to the plate and does what he has to. And that final speech to Dean... i get his frustration. Sam has been the MVP of the season, despite his own pain, grief, terror, shock. He has been carrying everyone, pushing through his own PTSD and depression and anxiety to keep fighting, and too feel like Dean is sideling him would feel like a slap in the face. I think Dean is perfectly valid in his terror for Sam, considering, as he said, what happened the last time they went to this particular circus, but Sam was right to. They have to do this together. The only times they win, are when they do things together. It's a very sweet, but very honest and raw moment between the brothers. And, yeah, a little bit ominous lol. I'm sure its fine though
