Supernatural 13x15 Full Reaction!

Lots of fuckery and chicanery in this episode. The latter is a good word. Concur with you there, Jess. We have the strong film noir homages. Reflected in the lady, Maragret Astor whose name you pick up, and get where they were going with this. Share you not vibing much with her making the moves on Sam, but we need the femme fatale, so it does track. Sort of lived for the aptly named Greenstreet, who hearing his name, I chuckled, “Nicely done.” Yes, strong guest cast, and Dominic Burgess who played Greenstreet was a standout. Always say, “Is that Psycho Pete?” anytime he pops up in anything. He brought his A game as not Kaspar Gutman, er Greenstreet. The man was also fantastic as Victor Buono about nine years ago now. Feel Sam’s frustration of being stuck working for the den of vipers. Gets worse when the mob is involved. Then the big character of the week arrives. Yeah, we both rather liked Father Lucca. Massi Furlan who plays him was absurdly terrific. Love how his words really did get you right in the heart. We both greatly liked his words of he knows that the world is half empty, which is why he’s doing stuff about it. And later, it’s great how he talks with Dean about how he knows that a miracle from the Lord is not something he’s expecting to happen, yet he has faith in their chances. And even though Dean is far more jaded for obvious reasons, you see him listen to Father Lucca and taking what he says into consideration. Just love your own response to Father Lucca’s words. Very quickly agree with Sam of helping Father Lucca get the skull back. Smart move with posing the hypothetical to Dean about the Impala. I can’t drive, but Dean’s response to that seems reasonable. Loved how you got defensive when Father Lucca’s not lie did work. I would have said to him, “Don’t think of it as lies, padre, think of it as bullshit.” Chaos erupts at the end. Shame that Margaret gets killed, so unlike Brigid, we don’t get that last shot of her in that beautifully symbolic elevator. We both had a bit of a yell when Father Lucca got hit, but it ends up being a graze. That was divine intervention right there. Love they get the satisfaction of taking down Greenstreet, though when Dean has his one-liner, I asked, “Dean, do you even know what “chicanery” means?” Great was your reaction to Father Lucca revealing that he was deemed a most holy man. And they skipped past the needle business too, making us both happy. Meaning we don’t try to jump the pope when he sees the Sox play at Comiskey? No? Ah well. Love the words of how Father Lucca was a shining light amidst the sea of not unrealistically pessimistic thoughts from the boys. Gets you how Sam expresses the burnout. That way of the world: There’s always an alien battle cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that’s about to wipe out life on this miserable little planet. And Dean does have that response that I so adored your reaction to. Funny thing you say about different moods between episodes. But that’s for next week. Thanks for this great reaction, Jess.
