Classic Who "Silver Nemesis" Parts 1&2 Full Reaction!

Took me a few seconds to piece together the necklace. Finally clicked, and I said, “Oh, like blood from, God, I’m slow. And Bela’s my favorite actor and everything. This is embarrassing.” Very impressive outfit coordination for the Halloween upload on youtube. Guarantee that it’ll be more impressive than anything I’m wearing on the day. Can’t argue or fault the sound logic you mentioned in the opening. As I’ve seen the other fellas have mentioned, this was the big twenty-fifth anniversary special of Doctor Who. There’s been the comments of Remembrance of the Daleks was the better anniversary special. True though that is, this one is still good. Hits you right out of the gate with the Nazis. Mind you, the caption with the day before the anniversary date did say this was South America, presumably Argentina, so historically, it tracks. 1988 was a good year, yes. I say that the Doctor and Ace should team up with Jake and Elwood to deal with those Nazis. Lady Peinforte is quite the scene stealer. Woman is on a mission. Greatly love your laugh over Lady Peinforte’s line assuring that pursuit by a bear only happens in the theatre, nice nod to the Bard. She had some good archery skills. Quite the image of the arrow in the TARDIS. Think that Sutekh was just happy that the Lady’s aim was a bit off there. Of course, a delightful part of the reaction was when your dear Cybermen arrived. Perhaps not the spookiest that they’ve ever been, but fun to have them on Halloween night, all the same. You note that it feels less like a Cybermen story, and more like the one group of villains just happens to be Cybermen. True, but like you’re saying, that’s not really a complaint. The Nazis really think that they can team up with the Cybermen, and it’s all going to work out well. They really want that bow and arrow and statue combo, because, you know, their efforts to attain the Ark of the Covenant, the Holy Grail, and the Antikythera worked out SO WELL for them. Love your continued reactions to the Doctor and Ace. And great to hear you give praise to Seven. Seven has the savagery and whimsy side by side with each other. Tis glorious, yes? Certainly, it’s great to see you appreciate that about Seven. Going back to the topic of how well this story is perceived, apparently behind the scenes, it was not particularly popular. Sylvester has gone on record saying that he felt it a disappointment for an anniversary story. Evidently, there was tension with various people, and it reached a point where he even snapped at poor Sophie, though thankfully, it has a sweet ending, per Sophie’s description, “I couldn’t stop the tears rolling down my cheeks. Luckily, this broke the tension; Sly gave me a big hug and we laughed at our bad tempers.” The two of them are so sweet. Thanks for the fun reaction to the Halloween reaction to Classic Who, Jess.

Favourite Classic Who story for halloween, probably Brain of Morbius since it's basically Frankenstein.

"I don't suppose you've completely ignored my instructions and secretly prepared any Nitro Nine, have you?", The Doctor, "Silver Nemesis" The first part was broadcast on the actual day of the 25th anniversary of "An Unearthly Child" - the Silver anniversary - "Silver Nemesis" - indeed. However, parts 2 and 3 are quite special for me. The local New Zealand TV station was running a week-long anniversary celebration of Doctor Who - we got a bunch of old stories and some newer ones - I think one from each of the Doctors, like "The Dalek Invasion of Earth", "The Seeds of Death", ... etc. "This is no madness. 'Tis England.", Lady Peinforte, "Silver Nemesis" And on the final day of the celebration (Friday, 25 November), all three parts of "Silver Nemesis" were broadcast. This was BEFORE the UK saw the second and third parts of the story - we saw the parts before the UK. "When. Oh, yes. Yes, of course. On the 23rd day of November in the Year of our Lord 1988.", Mathematician, "Silver Nemesis" Ok, there's a bit of a problem here. There was a calendar change in 1752 - the famous missing 11 days - so a mathematician in 1638 couldn't have known about that so would have got the returning date wrong. Or perhaps, ... something ... I still like the repeating 25-year destruction idea, though. "I hate people whose alarms go off during gigs.", Ace, "Silver Nemesis" That's the Courtney Pine Jazz Quartet playing. "As my lady knows, before I entered your service I was found guilty of a large number of offences.", "Then have the courage of your convictions. Drink. Drink!", Richard Maynarde and Lady Peinforte, "Silver Nemesis" A return to Classic Who for Fiona Walker - we saw her all the way back in 1964 in "The Keys of Marinus" - she kidnapped Susan! I really like Lady Peinforte and Richard - they're good fun. "You mean the world's going to end and you've forgotten about it?", "I've been busy.", Ace and the Doctor, "Silver Nemesis" Yes, Doctor. "I thought it'd be a lot posher than this.", "It probably is, upstairs, but we're in the vault.", Ace and the Doctor, "Silver Nemesis" The Doctor puts on a fez - little did we know at the time how iconic that would be. Or vice-versa, anyone who remembered this scene was happy when 11 picked up another fez. "I've been here before.", "Déjà vu?", "No, with the school.", Ace and the Doctor, "Silver Nemesis" The tourist crowd have a large number of Who-people - like the director of "Remembrance of the Daleks", the director of "The Five Doctors", the writer of "The Happiness Patrol", the writer of this story. "Join the tour.", sesskasays, Reaction to "Silver Nemesis" Did I forget anyone? Yes, also in the tour is the wonderful ** Nicholas Courtney **! "Act as if you own the place.", The Doctor, "Silver Nemesis" Nice gag about wandering around Windsor Castle and not quite meeting the Queen. "Don't thank them yet. We might live to regret it.", "What are they?", "Cybermen.", The Doctor and Ace, "Silver Nemesis" It's always fun for the main monsters to appear at the cliffhanger. "Ah! Gold dipped in poison. Lady Peinforte's calling card.", The Doctor, "Silver Nemesis" Gold affecting Cybermen - what was the last time that idea was used? Oh, ... (sob) ..., Adric. "Created by Omega?", "Yes.", "And?", "Rassilon.", "And?", Ace and the Doctor, "Silver Nemesis" A deeper, darker Doctor. "Interference, origin unknown.", Cyberman, "Silver Nemesis" And it turns out it's Courtney Pine's jazz tape! Fun. "Come. The bear will not pursue us. Such things happen only in the theatre.", Lady Peinforte, "Silver Nemesis" We like a Shakespeare reference - we also have a "palpable hit". "Hmm, this game is going rather badly.", The Doctor, "Silver Nemesis"
