"The Hand of Omega is a mythical name for Omega's remote stellar manipulator, a device used to customise stars with. And didn't we have trouble with the prototype.", "We?", "They.", The Doctor and Ace, "Remembrance of the Daleks" And introducing a mysterious pre-"An Unearthly Child" history for the Doctor. And a deeper, darker Doctor. This is good stuff. "You drag me down from Cambridge, you quote the Peace Time Emergency Powers Act at me, and then you expect me to advise on something outside the realm of human experience. Bluntly, Group Captain, we're reliant on the Doctor because only the Doctor knows what is going on.", Rachel, "Remembrance of the Daleks" I'm getting strong Liz Shaw-vibes from this quote - including the Cambridge reference. "I wish Bernard was here.", "The British Rocket Group's got its own problems.", Allison and Rachel, "Remembrance of the Daleks" A Bernard Quatermass reference! - is it about time for me to rewatch the Mark Gatiss/Indira Varma/David Tennant remake? "Imperial Daleks are bionic blobs with bits added. You can tell that Daleks are into racial purity. So, one lot of Daleks reckon the other lot of blobs are too different. They're mutants. Not pure in their blobbiness.", Ace, "Remembrance of the Daleks" It does get a bit confusing in this story with two Dalek factions. And it nicely brings things around to the human racism present in the story. "Keeping an eye on Group Captain Chunky Gilmore. Although why his men call him Chunky, I've no idea.", The Doctor, "Remembrance of the Daleks" That's an ad-lib. The cast had been making fun of an error Simon Williams had made misinterpreting the word "chunky" in the script. "Dalek hunting is a terminal pastime.", "So what are we doing?", "Dalek hunting.", The Doctor and Ace, "Remembrance of the Daleks" I like this Ace/Doctor team. "Order Special Weapons Dalek into position.", Emperor, "Remembrance of the Daleks" The glorious Special Weapons Dalek - love it! The BBC effect pyrotechnics for the Dalek battle were so loud that London's emergency services were dispatched to the scene fearing an IRA bomb. The story goes that the emergency services drivers were astonished to see Daleks coming up the road out of the smoke - I love that! "I feel bamboozled.", sesskasays, Reaction to "Remembrance of the Daleks" The Davros misdirect in the story is well done. "The resulting explosion destroyed Skaro, and the feedback destroyed the mothership. The Hand of Omega is now returning to Gallifrey.", The Doctor, "Remembrance of the Daleks" Probably a mistake to destroy Skaro - fortunately future Who writers have either ignored this or suggested the Daleks remade it. BTW: you called it - RTD said that the destruction of Skaro in this story is one of the early acts of the Time War. "We did good, didn't we?", "Perhaps. Time will tell. It always does.", Ace and the Doctor, "Remembrance of the Daleks"
