Daryl Dixon 3x01 Full Reaction!

Daryl Dixon 3x01 Full Reaction!

Comments

Praying that your second week back does run smoother than the first even if only a little bit. You are right that this show has been consistent with the yearly season release, and that has been quite pleasant. We both missed trailers. Good first episode back for this third season. We had heard about the setting of Spain for the season. I confess that the previous title sequence is missed, but the new one is quite the bit of fun. So, I see that we both knew that Stephen Merchant would be in this. I’ve known that for over a year now as news broke, I think it was summer of last year. Sort of expected him last season, and when he didn’t show up, realized it’d happen this season. We both praise Stephen, in my case, his casting was believable either as hero or villain, and it was lovely to see him be the sweet man that Julian was. He demonstrated himself an endearing fellow, as you said. Interesting how England became quite the Squid Game of survival. You expressing fondness for him made me start to cry. It is that thought experiment: if he hadn’t crossed paths with our heroes would he have not been killed? Perhaps, perhaps not. But he lived in his last day. That’s something, and he was on the path to get Daryl and Carol home. Shame about the weather. We both have the thing of being far more cautious about the optimism about being joyous in getting home. Me, my comment to the proceedings would be, “When we are back on American soil, seeing our loved ones in the flesh again, then I’ll share that sentiment.” Sweet of you to encourage Julian, and when you offered encouragement as Daryl and Carol have plot armor, and I said, “Yeah, but Jess, he doesn’t.” The heart did sink when Julian was wounded. Called his death from that, though I admit my guard was up as Stephen was listed under the guest starring credits. On the other hand, Kim Coates was likewise listed in guest starring credits of Dead City as well, so there was the possibility he’d be recurring. Alas... Got worried that he’d turn on the boat. Gets me real good, Jess, seeing your reaction to Julian’s death. I’ll miss him too. Poor Carol getting the hunk of metal in her back; we both had the shared reactions to how painful it undoubtedly is. See we both had words of response to Daryl showing off the success of getting the hunk of metal out of Carol’s back, my own comment being, “Daryl, don’t be morbid, just clean it off and put a dressing on it!” Sweet how Carol tells Daryl about how she saw Sophia. Likewise, we liked the bit of Daryl insisting that he never lies to Carol, and how she clarified that he still hides things, leading him to speak of the divine intervention that he experienced with Isabelle in the tunnel. Like I said last year, our dear Isabelle is now his angel in Heaven, looking out for him. Keeps making me sob. Reserve comments on the one group as I want to see what comes of that. Now Carol is gone, hell of a spot to leave it on. Other observations. Figured you’d be happy with the rabbits being shot offscreen. You expressed about what I expect that you get it, our heroes need to eat. Still not pleasant for you though. We both reacted much the same about the hot dogs. If they do get those hot dogs, somehow, I get the feeling they won’t be as good as the ones you can get at Portillo’s, but maybe that’s just me. And of course, it is honestly quite sweet how Carol is holding onto the motivation of the hot dogs to be had on the special occasion, love how her one scene with that gave you the good laugh. You also made the comment about the candies; I’m not much partial to those candies when they’re fresh, so I’d pass on that. Though Carol did find the beer, and I have a laugh as I said at that point, “Probably flatter than a pancake by now.” and upon saying that Daryl commented on the likelihood of it being stale, hence my laugh. All in all, a solid premiere back. Looking forward to the Autumnal festivities of sharing this show with you for what is now the third year in a row. Should be fun. Thanks for the great reaction, Jess.
