Classic Who "Paradise Towers" Parts 1&2 Full Reaction!

Classic Who "Paradise Towers" Parts 1&2 Full Reaction!

My favorite "dialects" pun - it works better if you sound it out loud. "The Uxbridge English Dictionary" - "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" - 2012-12-17 The English language has many words which appear to mean the same thing but in fact provide subtle variations in meaning. For example, many people don't know the difference between accents and dialects. "accents" are ways of pronouncing words that indicate the place of origin or social background of the speaker. While "dialects" are the baddies in Doctor Who.

"Nothing's just rubbish if you have an enquiring mind.", The Doctor, "Paradise Towers" This has to be one of the most over-the-top stories ever! It's not rubbish - there's fun stuff here. It's played a bit over-the-top at times ... way, way over-the-top-of-Everest at times. "Why did I have to jettison the pool from the TARDIS?", "Well, it was leaking.", The Doctor and Mel, "Paradise Towers" I guess the Doctor installed a new one sometime before he met Amelia in her garden. "You we like, Doctor. What you wear is high fabsion and ice hot, for an old one.", Fire Escape, "Paradise Towers" I like the Kang's names: "Bin Liner" and "Fire Escape". And I like the odd dialect the tower-dwellers use. Excuse me, may I tell my favourite dialects pun? - see the first reply. The actress who plays "Fire Escape" was married to Mark Strickson ("Turlough"). Also, one of the Red Kang extras in this story was played by Nisha Nayar who we later saw as the female programmer in "Bad Wolf"/"The Parting of the Ways" making her one of the earliest Classic/New Who returning actors. The original musical score for this show was rejected by JNT so Keff McCulloch provided a replacement score. The original score is available in the DVD and I've always been meaning to go back and watch it with that track. I would have listened to it this watch, but because of the way the sesskasays reaction audio is recorded, I'll do it some other time. "I said, would you like a cup of tea and some cakes?", Tabby, "Paradise Towers" If someone offers you tea and cakes, just say "No"! "This is the Great Architect returned to Paradise Towers. Bid him welcome. All Hail the Great Architect, all hail.", Chief Caretaker, "Paradise Towers" Hey, it's Richard Briers playing the Chief Caretaker! We remember him dying in bed in the Torchwood story "A Day in the Death". Richard is most famous for "The Good Life" sitcom but he had a long acting career - he played King Lear on stage and played Polonius in Branagh's 4-hour epic "Hamlet (1996)" movie. BTW: he was married to Ann Davies who played Barbara's lorry-driving friend, Jenny, in "The Dalek Invasion of Earth". "Yes, we can count that as your last request. You're entitled to one if you're to undergo a 327 Appendix 3 Subsection 9 death. Not a pretty way to go.", Deputy Chief Caretaker, "Paradise Towers" The Deputy Chief Caretaker is played by Clive Merrison. We've seen him before in "The Tomb of the Cybermen". I know him best playing Sherlock Holmes in the BBC Radio dramatisations from the 1980s and '90s. "Build high for happiness.", Bin Liner, "Paradise Towers"
