Say you have a model of a railroad rail. What if you wanted to art direct the vibration going down the rail in Houdini caused by the train. Is that possible? It doesn't have to be scientifically or sound driven accurate, just art directable so the audience sees it's a vibration travelling down a model. Any suggestions?

Taylor

Awesome, thats great, gonna check them out!

Matt Rowley

Welcome, Taylor! It would be a mix from my previous tutorial and this one haha :D I would do that by creating a velocity field for my flip solver, and then control the advection strength with the parameter from chop. Did i get you right? Or you ment a solid surface of a teapot (I imagined a teacup and tea/coffee riples)?

Welcome welcome!

Thank you Nick! Do you know how to simulate sound waves going across a surface? Like if I wanted to show sound waves rippling across a teapot for example?

Taylor

Nice one.. Just the tip I've been on the hunt for lately!.. On a side note Nick, what's the free texture resource you used for the fabric on this one? (couldn't quite hear when you said)

Matt Rowley
