-Chapter 4-

-Chapter 4-

“What did they say when you caught them together?”

“That’s the best part of the whole story,” she said, smiling bitterly.

I shook my head, looking confused, as if to say, ‘What’s the best part?’ and she said:

“Neither of them knows I caught them in the act…”

“Wait, but what did you say to your guy? You dumped him without telling him anything?”

“No, I didn’t dump him, I just said I needed time to think alone and that for now, we were taking a break.”

“And he just accepted that?”

“What else could he do? I didn’t give him a choice and besides, it’s not like he could hold me hostage at home and keep me from going out,” she said with a smile.

“Wow, we really are black cats, we have no luck,” I said, finishing my drink.

“Speak for yourself, I’m still the daughter of Anderson Winchester, CEO of Omicron Capital, and I have several million dollars in an account since I got my master’s from Harvard,” she said.

“Already?!” I said, surprised because I didn’t know she had received her degree.

“Yep,” she said with a proud little look.

“Damn,” I said, looking desperate.

“What?!”

“I’m just wondering how I’m going to snag a gorgeous girl now that I’m going to have to switch to being a waiter.”

She rolled her eyes as if to say, ‘Seriously, you’re in deep trouble and that’s what you’re thinking about?’

“And you know her, maybe you could even help me,” I said.

“Wait, are you kidding me? You really want me to give you advice?” she said, realizing I was serious.

“Please, I really like her,” I said with a puppy-dog look.

She rolled her eyes, then said, “Go ahead, tell me who it is and we’ll see what I can do for you.”

“I don’t know her name but I can describe her,” I said, pretending to search my deepest memories.

She nodded seriously, waiting for me to do so, and that’s what I did: “If I remember correctly, she has beautiful eyes and she’s blonde.”

She waited and, seeing I wasn’t saying anything more, she said, “Wait, that’s it?”

“That’s already a lot, isn’t it?”

“No, describe her to me: her face, her height, her figure, her way of speaking, her intelligence level, her personality, tell me everything you remember about her.”

I smiled and said, “Hmm, let’s start with her physical appearance then. What I can tell you is that she has a heart-shaped face, long blonde hair, stunning blue eyes, she also has lovely lips and a cute little nose. In terms of height, I’d say she’s about the same height as you, and figure-wise, she’s a perfect hourglass; you can tell she takes care of herself to maintain a perfect shape.”

“The perfect girl, huh,” she said, her tone a bit sour.

“You have no idea,” I said before continuing, “She speaks properly but when we’re together, I feel like she’s charming me half the time and mothering me the other half, a bit like us, you know the type. She’s smart and personality-wise, I’d say she takes after her father, a real shark. Wait, I know her name, it’s on the tip of my tongue… Anderson… haha… Winchester, haha.”

I couldn’t keep the joke going until the end seeing how jealous she was. I smiled and grabbed her cheeks, saying, “You’re really possessive with me, be careful or I might get ideas, haha.”

“Ha… ha… ha, you’re really hilarious,” she said without a smile, slapping my hand and looking away, embarrassed by her slip-up as well as her naivety.

We didn’t say anything for a few minutes and an ambiguous air settled between us that neither wanted to break until I stood up and held out a hand in her direction after leaving $200 on the table.

She glared at me for a few seconds, then rolled her eyes before taking my hand and following me.
